Twins: Byron Buxton was 2-for-5 with a run. Max Kepler was 1-for-4 with a hit-by-pitch. Jake Reed retired all six men he faced, four by strikeout.
Salt River: Peter O'Brien (Arizona) was 1-for-2 with a home run (his second) and two walks. Brandon Drury (Arizona) was 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Mark Appel (Houston) pitched three shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.
Surprise: Tyler Austin (Yankees) was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Kyle Haynes (Yankees) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing two walks with one strikeout.
The game: Scottsdale scored three in the fourth to take a 3-1 leda, but Salt River came back with single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh and put the game out of reach with a two-run eighth.
SURPRISE 8, PEORIA 2 IN PEORIA
Surprise: Jesse Winker (Cincinnati) was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, and two walks, scoring twice and driving in two. Kyle Waldrop (Cincinnati) was 3-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Aaron Kurcz (Boston) struck out all three batters he faced.
Peoria: Raul Mondesi (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Jordan Smith (Cleveland) was 1-for-4 with a home run. Ali Williams (Kansas City) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
The game: A walk, two wild pitches, and a passed ball led to a three-run first for Surprise. A walk, a hit batsman, and an error helped Surprise add two more in the second and the game was not close after that.
