LOS MOCHIS 5, CULIACAN 3 IN LOS MOCHIS
Culiacan: Arturo Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. Alejandro Armenta pitched five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
Los Mochis: Emmanuel Avila was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Brian Burgamy (Mets) was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in one. Alberto Castillo struck out five in five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and no walks.
The game: Los Mochis scored two in the fifth to tie it at two. In the sixth, Burgamy doubled in one and Avila hit a two-run homer to give Los Mochis the lead for good. Trailing 5-3, Culiacan had the bases loaded with two out in the ninth.
MEXICALI 8, OBREGON 4 IN OBREGON
Mexicali: Luis Juarez was 2-for-5 with a home run and a double, scoring three times and driving in two. Chris Roberson was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one. Omar Espinoza pitched six innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit and one walk with five strikeouts.
Obregon: Carlos Valencia was 1-for-4 with a home run (his second) and two runs. Albino Contreras was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Matias Carrillo pitched two perfect innings.
The game: Mazatlan broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the fifth and scored two more in each of the next two innings to take control.
MAZATLAN 7, NAVOJOA 2 IN MAZATLAN
Navojoa: Luis Fonseca was 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs. Eliseo Aldazaba was 2-for-3 with a triple. Eddie Gamboa (Baltimore) pitched five shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk with four strikeouts.
Mazatlan: Olmo Rosario was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in three. Jesus Castillo was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Sergio Espinosa pitched five shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
The game: Rosario hit a three-run double in a four-run sixth that put Mazatlan up 4-0. Navojoa got two in the seventh, but Castillo's two-run double capped a three-run eighth that put the game out of reach.
JALISCO 9, HERMOSILLO 2 IN JALISCO
Hermosillo: Carlos Alberto Gastelum was 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk, scoring once. Cole Garner was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Demetrio Gutierrez pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Jalisco: Leo Heras (Houston) was 2-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring once and driving in three. Jose Manuel Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Orlando Lara pitched five shutout innings, allowing six hits and a walk with one strikeout.
The game: Jalisco scored six in the second to go up 8-0 and put the game away early. Heras had a three-run triple in the inning.
