HERMOSILLO 3, MAZATLAN 2 IN HERMOSILLO
Mazatlan: Stetson Allie (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs. Erick Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Rafael Diaz pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit with one strikeout.
Hermosillo: Sebastian Elizalde (Cincinnati) was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Yunesky Sanchez was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run, scoring once and driving in one. James Gillheeney (Seattle) pitched six innings, allowing one run on five hits and no walks with five strikeouts.
The game: Hermosillo scored single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth to take a 3-1 lead. It stayed there until the ninth, when Allie doubled and scored. Mazatlan had the tying run on first with one out but could do no more.
MEXICALI 3, LOS MOCHIS 2 IN MEXICALI
Los Mochis: Brian Burgamy (Mets) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Emmanuel Avila was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Fabian Cota struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Mexicali: Chris Roberson was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Brock Peterson (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Javier Solano (Dodgers) pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
The game: RBI singles by Ramon Urias and Roberson turned a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead for Mexicali in the fifth. Los Mochis only once got a man as far as second base after that.
NAVOJOA 12, OBREGON 11 IN NAVOJOA
Obregon: Jake Smolinski (Texas) was 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk, scoring twice. Albino Contreras was 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk. Jose Pina struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up no hits and no walks.
Navojoa: Carlos Orrantia was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring three times and driving in one. Eliseo Aldazaba was 2-for-5 with a three-run homer. Gene Escat (Baltimore) struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing only a walk.
The game: Obregon built an 11-2 lead only to see Navojoa score two in the sixth and eight in the seventh to take the victory. Aldazaba and Jon Weber (Detroit) each hit a three-run homer in the eight-run seventh.
CULIACAN 3, JALISCO 1 IN CULIACAN
Jalisco: Leo Heras (Houston) was 3-for-4 with a double and a run. Jose Manuel Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in one. Ben Kozlowski struck out seven in 5.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks.
Culiacan: Sergio Gastelum was 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs. Ronnier Mustelier was 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Marco Camarena (Mets) pitched five shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
The game: All the runs were scored in the sixth. Rodriguez doubled in a run in the top of the sixth; in the bottom, Jorge Vazquez homered and Gastelum singled in two. Jalisco put men on first and second with one out in the ninth, but a double play ended the game.
