I've been on the same shuffle for most of the week. I'm not going to stop it until I update my pod's contents.

434. This song saved my life. Or at least led me to not risk my life. In two ways. First, "Picking slowly up the rockslide, one thing always seems apparent. If the climb becomes too much, I can always turn around," came to mind when I was hiking on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake and found myself out of water two-thirds of the way up the mountain/big hill that is the island's prominent feature, and I took its advice.
Second, quitting grad school after a semester to find a job outside of academia. The line "Picking through a pile of garbage for some worthless piece of paper that's been hidden there for me to give meaning to my [name]," (the last word's actually "day") stuck with me. Did I want to do this, or was I just seeking some sort of third-party validation? Why exactly was I pursuing further letters?
Run The Jewels 2!
Halfway through, and it sounds pretty bangin'.
Went to Ex-Hex & Speedy Ortiz last night, it was an awesome show. Go see 'em at the Entry tonight.
Edit: See, I was going to make an RTJ2 comment, but forgot to add that. I'm excited to listen to it. I saw it went up after I got home from the show last night.

Don't be so hard on yourself. New kid, new city. (Or that was last year, but...).
I've gotten really weird when I've force-fed myself a lot of stuff because I'm "behind".
I can lose track of what I really like.
That said, here are some good things from 2014 that you must listen to:
DJ Dodger Stadium
Lydia Loveless
Sturgill Simpson
Untold
Yeah, I'm familiar with the force-feeding problem. I usually run into that at the end of the year anyway, as the "best of [whatever year]" lists come out. This year will be a bit exaggerated is all.
