Fall Festival: Games of October 25

Dozier hunts a victory for Peoria.  A home run barrage carries Scottsdale.  Two touchdowns for Mesa.

PEORIA 6, SALT RIVER 3 IN SALT RIVER

Twins:  Eddie Rosario was 1-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.

Peoria:  Hunter Dozier (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with two doubles. scoring twice and driving in one.  Jordan Smith (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a walk, driving in one.  Sam Tuivailala (St. Louis) struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Salt River:  Evan Marzilli (Arizona) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Mitch Lambson (Houston) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

The game:  An RBI double by Dozier and a run-scoring single by Jacob Wilson (St. Louis) broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth.  Salt River did not get a man past first base after the fifth inning.

SCOTTSDALE 12, GLENDALE 3 IN GLENDALE

Scottsdale:  Matt Reynolds (Mets) was 2-for-3 with a home run (his third) and a double, driving in four.  Dan Gamache (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring twice and driving in one.  Joely Rodriguez (Pittsburgh) pitched four innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

Glendale:  Jason Esposito (Baltimore) was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Daniel Fields (Detroit) was 2-for-4 with a run.  Mike Thomas (Detroit) struck out three in two perfect innings.

The game:  Homers by Aaron Judge (Yankees) and Greg Bird (Yankees) gave Scottsdale a 2-0 lead in the first.  Tyler Austin (Yankees) hit a two-run homer as part of a three-run third that made the score 5-1 and the outcome was never in doubt after that.

MESA 14, SURPRISE 0 IN SURPRISE

Mesa:  Daniel Robertson was 5-for-6 with two runs and four RBIs.  Matt Olson was 3-for-5 with a triple and a walk, scoring twice and driving in three.  Sean Nolin struck out five in three shutout innings, giving up no hits and no walks.

Surprise:  Nick Williams was 2-for-3.  Josh McElwee pitched a perfect inning.

The game:  A four-run fifth, featuring three extra-base hits, made the score 8-0 and put the game out of reach.
