CULIACAN 9, MAZATLAN 2 IN CULIACAN
Twins: Eric Farris was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs.
Mazatlan: Alberto Carreon was 3-for-3 with a double and a run. Ryan Schimpf (Toronto) was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Miguel Aguilar pitched a perfect perfect inning, striking out all three batters he faced.
Culiacan: Jorge Vazquez was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and a double, scoring twice and driving in four. Nick Buss (Oakland) was 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. Alejandro Armenta pitched three shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk with one strikeout.
The game: Vazquez doubled in two in a three-run first and the margin never got lower than three runs the rest of the game.
JALISCO 2, MEXICALI 1 IN JALISCO
Mexicali: Chris Roberson was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jon Del Campo was 2-for-4 with a double. Omar Espinoza pitched six shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Jalisco: Marquez Smith (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a double. Leo Heras (Houston) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Orlando Lara pitched five shutout innings, allowing three hits and four walks with three strikeouts.
The game: With the score tied at one with one out in the ninth, Cory Vaughn (Mets) was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on an Amadeo Zazueta (Toronto) single to win the game.
HERMOSILLO 9, NAVOJOA 1 IN HERMOSILLO
Navojoa: Chris Marrero (Baltimore) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Rolando Acosta was 2-for-4. Esteban Haro pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Hermosillo: Justin Greene (Arizona) was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Cole Garner was 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs. Hector Galvan pitched five innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
The game: Garner's two-run single capped a three-run fifth that put Hermosillo ahead 5-1 and put the game out of reach.
OBREGON 12, LOS MOCHIS 1 IN OBREGON
Los Mochis: Brian Burgamy (Mets) was 1-for-2 with two walks. Emmanuel Avila was 2-for-3. Edwin Salas pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk with one strikeout.
Obregon: Carlos Valencia was 1-for-2 with a grand slam (his fifth homer) and two walks, scoring twice. Agustin Murillo was 2-for-4 with a home run (his second) and a walk, scoring twice. Ramon Delgado (St. Louis) pitched six innings, allowing one run on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
The game: Valencia hit his grand slam as part of a six-run third that put Obregon up 6-1 and gave them control of the game early.
