Navojoa: Luis Fonseca was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs. Reggie Abercrombie was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Jose Oyervidez pitched five shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

Mazatlan: Derrick Robinson (Cincinnati) was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Alberto Carreon was 2-for-4 with two runs. Felipe Gonzalez (Pittsburgh) struck out two in a scoreless inning, allowing one hit.
The game: Lamas' two-run triple in the fourth broke a 2-2 tie. The lead was never less than two runs again.
MEXICALI 14, HERMOSILLO 6 IN HERMOSILLO
Mexicali: Xorge Carillo (Mets) was 3-for-4 with two home runs (his second and third), scoring three times and driving in seven. Brock Peterson (Dodgers) was 3-for-5 with a three-run homer (his second) and three runs. Mario Meza struck out two in 1.1 perfect innings.
Hermosillo: Jerry Owens was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double, scoring twice and driving in one. Jose Amador was 1-for-3 with a home run (his second) and a walk. Jose Cobos pitched a scoreless inning, allowing a hit and a walk.
The game: Carillo hit a grand slam in the first to make it 4-0. It was 6-3 after three, but Mexicali scored five in the fourth to put it out of reach. Peterson had a three-run homer and Carillo a two-run homer in the fourth inning.
