LICEY 4, CIBAO 1 IN LICEY
Twins: Chris Parmelee was 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk for Licey.
Cibao: Maikel Franco (Philadelphia) was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Leury Garcia (White Sox) was 2-for-4. Scott Diamond (Cincinnati) pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
Licey: Jose Ruiz (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer. John Lannan (Mets) pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
The game: Ruiz hit a two-run homer in the eighth to make it 4-0. Cibao scored in the ninth but did not bring the tying run up to bat.
ORIENTE 5, ESCOGIDO 2 IN ORIENTE
Twins: Deibinson Romero was 0-for-2 with an RBI for Escogido.
Escogido: Jordan Pacheco (Arizona) was 0-for-2 with two walks and a run. Ronny Paulino (Detroit) was 0-for-2 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Carlos Pimentel (Cubs) pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk with one strikeout.
Oriente: Luis Jimenez (Milwaukee) was 3-for-4 with a home run (his third) and a double, driving in five. Austin Wates (Miami) was 1-for-2 with a double and three walks, scoring once. Edgar Garcia (Philadelphia) pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.
The game: With the score tied at two in the seventh, Jimenez hit a three-run double for all the runs Oriente would need. Escogido brought the tying run up to bat with none out in the eighth but did not get a hit after that.
ESTE 11, AGUILAS 6 IN AGUILAS
Twins: Wilkin Ramirez was 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI for Este.
Este: Cristhian Adams (Colorado) was 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk, scoring twice and driving in three. Mayo Acosta (Tampa Bay) was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk.
Aguilas: Ricardo Nanita was 3-for-5 with a home run, scoring twice. Dan Black (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer (his third) and a walk. Juan Abreu (Dodgers) retired all four batters he faced.
The game: Aguilas scored three in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead, but Este came back with four in the sixth, with three coming in on Acosta's three-run homer. Adames hit a three-run triple in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
