SALT RIVER 8, SCOTTSDALE 4 IN SCOTTSDALE
Twins: Eddie Rosario was 1-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Jake Reed pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit with one strikeout.
Salt River: Evan Marzilli (Arizona) was 3-for-3 with a home run and three runs. Justin Bohn (Miami) was 3-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Mitch Lambson (Houston) struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.
Scottsdale: Josh Bell (PIttsburgh) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two. Matt Reynolds (Mets) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in two. Rob Whalen (Mets) struck out three in three innings, allowing one run on two hits and two walks.
The game: Scottsdale scored all four of their runs in the first inning. A five-run fifth, capped by Brandon Drury's (Arizona) two-run triple, put Salt River up 6-4. Salt River added two runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
SURPRISE 5, PEORIA 3 IN SURPRISE
Peoria: Kyle Wren (Atlanta) was 3-for-5 with a double and a run. Justin O'Conner (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in one. Dylan Baker (Cleveland) pitched 4.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
Surprise: Deven Marrero (Boston) was 2-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Jesse Winker (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Scott DeCecco (Seattle) pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.
The game: Peoria led 3-1 after seven, but Surprise scored four in the eighth to win it. Winker singled in the go-ahead run with one out.
MESA 11, GLENDALE 2 IN MESA
Glendale: Hector Gomez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run. Corey Seager (Dodgers) was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, driving in one. Matt McGill (Dodgers) pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Mesa: Jon Berti (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with a home run (his second) and a walk, scoring three times and driving in two. Eric Stamets (Angels) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one. Drew Granier (Oakland) struck out two in two shutout innings, allowing a hit and a walk.
The game: It was 2-2 after five, but Mesa scored seven in the sixth. They had three walks, four singles, and a two-run triple by Kaleb Cowart that capped the inning.
