Down Under Daily: Games of November 7

Logan Wade leads a home run barrage for Brisbane.  Sydney gives one away.

BRISBANE 10, MELBOURNE 3 IN MELBOURNE

Twins:  Logan Wade was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk, scoring twice for Brisbane.

Brisbane:  Thomas Coyle (Tampa Bay) was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and a double, scoring twice.  Steven Chambers pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Melbourne:  Mitchell Ayres was 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk.  Dylan Cozens (Philadelphia) was 1-for-4 with a home run.  Kyle Heckathorn (Milwaukee) pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one walk with one strikeout.

The game:  Brisbane scored five in the third to go ahead 5-0 and was never threatened.  They had three home runs in the inning, Wade's two-run homer and solo shots by Johnny Field (Tampa Bay) and C. J. Beatty (White Sox).  Brisbane hit six home runs in the game.

CANBERRA 4, SYDNEY 2 IN CANBERRA

Sydney:  David Kandilas (Colorado) was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Will Swanner (Colorado) was 2-for-4.  Craig Anderson (Baltimore) struck out six in six innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks.

Canberra:  Jason Sloan was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Jack Murphy (Toronto) was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Tim Atherton (Oakland) pitched five innings, allowing two runs on six hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Trailing 2-0, Canberra scored three in the fifth to take a lead they would not relinquish.  They were aided by two errors, a walk, a hit batsman, and a wild pitch.
