Fall Festival: Games of November 8

A good day to be a Sclafani or a DeSclafani in Salt River.  It was singles night for Glendale.  Three Padres lead Surprise to a win.

PEORIA 7, SALT RIVER 4 IN SALT RIVER

Twins:  Eddie Rosario was 1-for-4 with a triple, scoring once and driving in one.  Taylor Rogers pitched a perfect inning.  Jake Reed pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up no runs on two hits.

Peoria:  Jacob Wilson (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs.  Justin O'Conner (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.  Colton Reavis (Tampa Bay) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Salt River:  Joe Sclafani (Houston) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Ryan Casteel (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.  Anthony DeSclafani (Miami) pitched five shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Salt River led 4-0 after six, but Peoria scored three in the seventh and four in the eighth to win.  Edward Salcedo (Atlanta) doubled in the tying run and Hunter Dozier (Kansas City) singled in the go-ahead run.

GLENDALE 5, SCOTTSDALE 1 IN GLENDALE

Scottsdale: Aaron Judge (Yankees) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Adam Morgan (Philadelphia) pitched four innings, giving up one run on three hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

Glendale:  Tim Anderson (White Sox) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.  Shawn Zarraga (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Brooks Hall (Milwaukee) pitched four shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  Four fifth-inning singles produced two runs and gave Glendale a 3-0 lead.  Scottsdale scored one in the seventh, but three eighth-inning singles plated two more for Glendale and put the game out of reach.

SURPRISE 11, MESA 4 IN SURPRISE

Mesa:  Cal Towey (Angels) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.  Bijan Rademacher (Cubs) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.

Surprise:  Trea Turner (San Diego) was 5-for-5 with four runs and an RBI.  Hunter Renfroe (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with a grand slam (his fifth homer) and five RBIs.  Justin Hancock (San Diego) pitched four shutout innings, allowing no hits and four walks with one strikeout.

The game:  Leading 4-2, Surprise scored six in the sixth to put the game out of reach.  Four singles, two walks, and Renfroe's grand slam produced the runs.
