CIBAO 5, ORIENTE 4 IN CIBAO
Twins: Pat Dean started for Cibao and pitched three innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Oriente: Luis Jimenez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Juan Diaz was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Heri Quevedo pitched a scoreless inning despite giving up two hits and a walk with one strikeout.
Cibao: Carlos Peguero was 3-for-5 with two home runs (his fourth and fifth) and a walk. Jonathan Diaz was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in two. James Hoyt (Atlanta) retired all five men he faced, striking out three.
The game: Xavier Scruggs (St. Louis) homered in the seventh for Cibao to tie the game 4-4. Peguero hit a walkoff homer with two out in the ninth.
ESCOGIDO 8, ESTE 7 IN ESTE
Escogido: Buck Britton (Baltimore) was 4-for-5 with a home run (his fourth) and a double, scoring twice and driving in five. Pedro Ciriaco (Kansas City) was 3-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Armando Rodriguez retired all four men he faced with one strikeout.
Este: Cristhian Adames (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in two. Cameron Maybin (San Diego) was 1-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in two. Alberto Cabrera (Cubs) retired all four batters he faced.
The game: Este scored six in the fifth to go up 7-4 and the score stayed there until the ninth. In the ninth, Britton had a three-run single-plus-error to tie it and Melky Mesa (Toronto) singled in the go-ahead run.
AGUILAS 7, LICEY 5 IN LICEY
Twins: Chris Parmelee was 1-for-4 with a walk for Licey.
Aguilas: Manny Ramirez (Cubs) was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer (his third), scoring twice. Francisco Pena (Kansas City) was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer. Tony Pena, Jr. pitched a perfect inning.
Licey: Juan Francisco (Toronto) was 2-for-2 with a home run (his second) and three walks, scoring twice and driving in one. Domingo Santana (Houston) was 3-for-4 with two triples and a walk, scoring once. Juan Jaime (Atlanta) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
The game: Aguilas led 5-1 after three, but Licey cut the lead to 6-5 after six. In the seventh, a single, a hit batsman, a double steal, and a passed ball produced an insurance run.
