CULIACAN 1, LOS MOCHIS 0 IN CULIACAN
Los Mochis: Sandy Madera was 1-for-3 with a walk. Luis Niebla (Yankees)pitched four innings, giving up one run on three hits and three walks with one strikeout.
Culiacan: Nick Buss (Arizona) was 1-for-3 with a home run, his second. Oscar Robles was 1-for-2 with a walk.
The game: Buss hit a solo homer with two out in the fourth for the only run of the game. Los Mochis had only three hits.
MEXICALI 3, OBREGON 2 IN MEXICALI
Obregon: Donald Lutz (Cincinnati) was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks. Martin Sotelo struck out four in 4.1 scoreless innings, giving up five hits and no walks.
Mexicali: Victor Mendoza was 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit three-run homer. Gil Velazquez was 2-for-3 with a double. Juan Omar Espinoza pitched seven shutout innings, allowing one hit and three walks with four strikeouts.
The game: It was scoreless through seven, but Obregon got single runs in the eighth and ninth to go up 2-0. In the bottom of the ninth, Dave Sappelt hit a one-out double, the next batter walked, and Mendoza hit a pinch-hit three-run walkoff homer.
NAVOJOA 3, MAZATLAN 2 IN NAVOJOA
Mazatlan: Jesus Castillo was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Derrick Robinson (Cincinnati) was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Alejandro Martinez pitched six innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
Navojoa: Jose Guadalupe Chavez was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice. Jon Weber (Detroit) was 2-for-4 with a home run, his seventh. Alejandro Soto pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
The game: Weber's homer with one out in the fifth broke a 2-2 tie. Mazatlan got the tying run to second in the eighth and to third in the ninth.
JALISCO 8, HERMOSILLO 5 IN HERMOSILLO
Jalisco: Eduardo Arredondo was 3-for-4 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one. Leo Heras (Houston) was 2-for-3 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one. Brian Broderick (Washington) struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.
Hermosillo: Luis Alfonso Garcia was 2-for-4 with a home run (his third), scoring twice and driving in two. Matt Padgett was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Shaun Garceau pitched four innings, allowing one run on five hits and three walks with one strikeout.
The game: Hermosillo scored four in the first, led 5-1 after three, and still led 5-1 until the seventh, when Jalisco scored five times to take the lead. A two-run single by Marquez Smith (Cincinnati) brought home the tying and go-ahead runs.
