Just a couple of miles from my job and home, there was a huge fire last week. The smoke is still lingering, depending on which way the wind is blowing, and at work it gets inside and everyone's been coughing for days. I'm ready for it to pass.

Just letting you know I'll be out of range of the internet for a few days. Best wishes, everyone!
Anyone have any ideas for good family board games? Must work for ages 10 and up.
Depends on the kids but Pictionary usually works and isn't too obnoxious of a game. Wits and Wagers might work if the kids are into facts and numbers.
Telestrations is really fun
Forbidden Island and Tsuro. Possibly also Dixit, depending.
Flapjacks & Sasquatches is a card game, but should be perfect and tons of fun for all.
Dominoes, dude.
Dominoes are awesome.
And 30 minutes or less!
Get the big set and cut back the number of tiles based on the number of players.

Was in an antique store Wednesday and saw "Major League Baseball" by Ethan Allen. It was like the 10th edition from 1950. Thought about getting it, but my word what a boring book. It's basically just "how to play baseball" with some major league strategies tossed in. Maybe the driest baseball book I've seen. Also, Allen was a huge fan of small ball, which gets annoying.
Apparently, Allen created a really popular baseball tabletop game involving player cards and a spinner.
I had that game. My brother and I called it "Spinner Baseball". It was a late 80's version.
Nebraska-Iowa is a game of hot potato. Oy.
I'm making a batch of Alton Brown's bread pudding for our annual board game night with friends. I substituted his French boule for a loaf of local sourdough made with Wisconsin heirloom wheat and rye berries, which should be a super malty counterpoint to the spiced custard, dried cherries, and golden raisins.
Celebrating with New Glarus Coffee Stout and some Little Walter tunes.
Mmm, New Glarus coffee stout. I remember back in my early days that that was the first time I find out you didn't need actual coffee to get that flavor in beer. Kind of blew my mind, really.
10 different beers available at my in-law's bar! 🙂
9 are Anheuser Busch and the other is Miller Lite. 🙁
Oof, I didn't think that was a business model that could work anymore.
In one city it does.
BEANE!
The others are minor leaguers Franklin Barreto and Sean Nolin.
Donaldson could have a huge season going from Oakland to Toronto, one of the worst offensive parks to one of the best. Of course, the reverse is true for Lawrie. The Jays could end looking awfully good in this deal, at least initially, especially since Lawrie brings only one more season of control than Donaldson has.
Um, Lawrie has nearly a year more of service time than Donaldson. He'll be a free agent a year sooner thanks to Donaldson's Super Two status.
