VENEZUELAN WINTER LEAGUE

STANDINGS

Each team plays sixteen games in the round-robin playoff, so it's between Anzoategui and Magallanes for the championship.  The two teams play each other for the last time tonight.

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE

Culiacan defeated Mexicali 9-8 to take the series four games to three.  Jalisco had already defeated Obregon four games to two.  The best-of-seven championship series between Jalisco and Culiacan begins Wednesday night.

DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE

CIBAO 4, ORIENTE 0 IN ORIENTE (GAME 3 OF CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Cibao:  Moises Sierra was 3-for-3 with a double and a run.  Jean Segura was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.  Rafael Perez pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Oriente:  Wilkin Castillo was 1-for-3 with a double.  Junior Lake was 1-for-4 with a triple.  Evan MacLane pitched five innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks with one strikeout.

The game:  Cibao scored three in the fifth on two singles, a two-run error, and a sacrifice fly.  Oriente's best scoring chance came in the second, when a single and a walk put men on first and second with none out.

Series update:  Oriente leads the best-of-nine series two games to one.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

The league championship series between Santurce and Mayaguez starts tonight.
