ROCHESTER 6, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 4 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE
Batting stars: Aaron Hicks was 3-for-5 with a triple and a double, driving in four. Danny Ortiz was 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk, scoring three times. James Beresford was 1-for-3 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.
Pitching stars: Ryan Pressly retired all four batters he faced. A. J. Achter pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up two walks with one strikeout. Michael Tonkin pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Opposition stars: Tyler Austin was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Slade Heathcott was 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk, scoring once. Diego Moreno struck out four in two shutout innings, allowing only a walk.
The game: Hicks' two-run triple was the highlight of a three-run fourth that put the Red Wings up 5-1. It was 6-2 going to the bottom of the fifth, when a tiring Mark Hamburger surrendered two runs to make it 6-4. The RailRiders left the bases loaded that inning and also put two on in the seventh, but did not score again.
Of note: Eddie Rosario was 0-for-5. Josmil Pinto was 0-for-4. Hamburger struck out six in 4.2 innings, giving up four runs on nine hits and two walks.
CHATTANOOGA 11, MONTGOMERY 5 IN MONTGOMERY
Batting stars: Travis Harrison was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, scoring three times and driving in three. Byron Buxton was 4-for-6 with a triple and a double, scoring once and driving in one. Stephen Wickens was 2-for-5 with a triple and a walk, scoring twice.
Pitching stars: Cole Johnson pitched three perfect innings with three strikeouts. Zack Jones pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Opposition stars: Richie Shaffer was 1-for-3 with two walks and a run. Leonardo Reginatto was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in two. Bradin Hagens pitched five innings, allowing one run on four hits and no walks with one strikeout.
The game: A six-run second put the Lookouts in control of the game. Harrison's two-run double and a two-run single by Stuart Turner highlighted the inning. The Biscuits scored three in the eighth to cut the lead to 8-5, but Levi Michael's two-run single led to a three-run ninth that put the game out of reach.
Of note: Miguel Sano was 1-for-4 with a run. Adam Brett Walker II was 2-for-5 with a double and a run. Adrian Salcedo, normally a reliever, started and pitched three innings, giving up two runs (both in his third inning) on three hits and three walks with one strikeout.
FORT MYERS 11, TAMPA 4 IN TAMPA
Batting stars: Mitch Garver was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three walks, scoring twice and driving in two. Niko Goodrum was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a walk, scoring three times and driving in one. Chad Christensen was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Pitching stars: Ryan Eades pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Todd Van Steensel struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a walk.
Opposition stars: Mark Payton was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Danny Oh was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run.
The game: The Miracle scored five runs on only three hits in the first two innings to take a 5-0 lead which was never threatened. The Yankees did not score until the bottom of the ninth.
Of note: Alex Swim was 1-for-5 with three RBIs. Aderlin Mejia was 0-for-4 with an RBI.
CEDAR RAPIDS 9, BELOIT 0 IN CEDAR RAPIDS
Batting stars: Pat Kelly was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and a double, scoring twice. Tyler Kuresa was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, scoring twice. Nick Gordon was 3-for-4 with a triple and a run.
Pitching stars: Felix Jorge struck out ten in seven shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks. Michael Theofanopolous struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up three hits.
Opposition stars: Melvin Mercedes was 2-for-4. Corey Miller pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing a pair of walks.
The game: Kuresa's two-run homer ignited a three-run second and Kelly's three-run homer capped a four-run third to make it 7-0. Beloit got a single to start the game and did not get another hit until the seventh.
Of note: Jonatan Hinojosa was 0-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Zach Larson was 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Max Murphy was 3-for-5 with a triple and a run. Trey Vavra was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

It's early, and the major league team bites, but I love the sheer volume of names to look for in this column, and the fact that they've almost always been popping up every day. Seeing, for example, Nick Gordon, be deservedly highlighted, is awesome and exciting.
For the most part, the minor league pitching has been really good. I've been following the Twins minors for years now, but I'm really excited about doing it this year.
