Minor Details: Games of May 1

A big game for Byron Buxton.  The Kernels get no-hit, wasting another good game from Stephen Gonsalves.  Zach Granite makes his high-A debut.  It seems like one-run games have not been kind to Twins affiliates so far.

NORFOLK 4, ROCHESTER 3 IN ROCHESTER

Batting star:  Josmil Pinto was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his second.

Pitching star:  A. J. Achter struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Christian Walker was 3-for-5 with a home run and two doubles, driving in two.  Nolan Reimold was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.  Michael Almanzar was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

The game:  Walker homered in the top of the sixth to put the Tides up 2-1, but Pinto countered with a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to give the Red Wings a 3-2 lead.  In the seventh, though, doubles by Almanzar, Reimold, and Walker plated two and gave the Tides a 4-3 advantage.  The Red Wings got only one hit after that.

Of note:  Aaron Hicks was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Eddie Rosario was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for-4.  Danny Ortiz was 1-for-4 with a double and a run.  Pat Dean pitched 7.1 innings, giving up four runs on eleven hits and a walk with one strikeout.

CHATTANOOGA 7, JACKSONVILLE 3 IN CHATTANOOGA

Opposition star:  Sharif Othman was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

The game:  Harrison's two-run single capped a three-run first that gave the Lookouts a 3-0 lead.  It was 5-0 after four, but the Suns struck for three in the fifth to make it 5-3.  An RBI single by Adam Brett Walker II in the bottom of the fifth increased the lead to 6-3 and the Suns did not threaten again.

Of note:  Dalton Hicks was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Miguel Sano was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Walker II was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Max Kepler was 0-for-4.

The game:  It was scoreless until the fifth, when a two-out walk and Bauers' two-run homer gave the Stone Crabs a 2-0 lead.  The Miracle got one in the seventh when Swim doubled and Jason Kanzler singled him in.  The Miracle had the tying run on second with none out in the ninth but two strikeouts and a ground out ended the game.

Of note:  Engelb Vielma was 0-for-4.  Mitch Garver was 0-for-4.  Zach Granite, in his high-A debut, was 1-for-4.
