Batting stars: Josmil Pinto was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring three times and driving in one. James Beresford was 3-for-6 with a double, scoring once and driving in three. Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring three times and driving in one.
Pitching star: A. J. Achter pitched a perfect inning.
Opposition stars: Brent Morel was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer (his second) and a walk. Gorkys Hernandez was 1-for-3 with a home run (his second) and two RBIs.
The game: The Red Wings sent fifteen men to bat in the first inning, getting four singles, three doubles, three walks, a hit batsman, and an error on their way to ten runs. The Indians got four in the bottom of the first, but it was still 13-5 after four. A five-run eighth cut the lead to 14-10, but the Indians would get no closer.
Of note: Aaron Hicks was 3-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring twice. Danny Ortiz was 2-for-5 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two. Jason Wheeler pitched five innings, giving up five runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Batting stars: Mitch Garver was 2-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs. Bryan Haar was 2-for-6 with a double and a walk, scoring once.
Pitching stars: Aaron Slegers pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk with one strikeout. Madison Boer pitched two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk. Brian Gilbert pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up three walks.
Opposition stars: JaCoby Jones was 2-for-6 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Cody Dickson pitched five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Julio Vivas struck out two in two shutout innings, allowing a hit and a walk.
The game: The Marauders got two runs in the first, but a pair of RBI singles by Garver, one in the second and one in the fourth, tied it 2-2. There it stayed until the eleventh, when a Zach Granite sacrifice fly put the Miracle up briefly 3-2 but the Marauders tied it up again on a walk, a wild pitch, a stolen base, and another wild pitch. In the fifteenth, Niko Goodrum hit a two-run triple and scored on a sacrifice fly to make it 6-3. Three walks loaded the bases for the Maruaders with one out in the bottom of the fifteenth, but a pair of strikeouts ended the game.
Of note: Granite was 2-for-6 with an RBI. Chad Christensen was 1-for-6 with a walk and two runs. Alex Swim was 1-for-3.
CEDAR RAPIDS 7, WISCONSIN 3 IN WISCONSIN
Batting stars: Jorge Fernandez was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs. Brett Doe was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring once. Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Pitching stars: Mat Batts pitched six innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Randy LeBlanc pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit with one strikeout. C. K. Irby struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.
Opposition star: Angel Ventura pitched four innings, allowing one run on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
The game: It was tied 2-2 after two. In the third, a walk, a single, and another walk loaded the bases and Fernandez delivered a two-out three-run double to make it 5-2. Gordon singled in a run in the fourth and the lead was never less than four after that.
Of note: Tanner English was 0-for-3 with three walks and a run. Trey Vavra was 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs. Max Murphy was 0-for-4 with a walk and a run.

Padre - Any sense of how Gordon's doing overall?
Not that well, really. He's hitting .269/.307/.333 in 93 at-bats. It's early yet, and he's nineteen years old, so I'm not suggesting anyone should panic. Still, so far it's not what I hoped to see.
