If this move finally means an end to Eddie Escobar playing left field, Im for it.
That's what I'm wondering. Is this a move because they really believe Buxton is ready and are committing to him, or is this a move because Hicks is hurt and Hunter's suspended and they at long last got tired of watching Escobar stumble around the outfield.
Both are valid reasons to me. Watching Escobar and Nunez muddle around in the outfield has been painful.
Both are valid reasons ifit its to give him some actual time to see what he can do.
Actually, the metrics so far show Escobar has been about average to slightly above. He's had a few ugly plays that have displayed his inexperience, but the metrics say he's been better than Arcia, Schafer and Hunter in the outfield. Still much prefer having Rosario, Robinson or even Hicks out there.

A) SSS
B) Defensive metrics are still an imperfect science.
C) Eduardo Escobar is not a good outfielder.
Pick as many as apply.
D) All of the above.
I didn't realize that SSS meant you could just dismiss statistics in favor of subjective observation.
It also doesn't mean you should cherry pick to support your argument.
Actually, that's pretty much what SSS does mean--that the sample size of the stats isn't large enough to tell us anything.
Yep. Or at least nothing generalizable.
Descriptive statistics are great for, you know, description. But for inference, sample statistics need a theory of inference.
I am a terrible baseball fan because I choose to be ignorant of Escobar's defensive averageness in the OF.
I would rather have Delmon Young back out there.
I do not believe that Escobar is actually an average fielding outfielder.
I believe he is, but I'm greedy enough to want much better
Average is a big improvement over what we've had over the last many years in left field. Probably since Jason Tyner.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH
Eeeep. The Tigers are closing in.

When I'm in Minnesota, the game or games I'm most likely to be able to attend are Tiger games. I hope they still have meaning then.
If it helps, I think the Twins are doing most of the work for the Tigers. They haven't exactly been tearing it up lately either. As I typed that, I realized that doesn't really make the games sound much better.
Of course, now that Buxton is up...
Blue Jays legend Carlos Delgado was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday. So were Felipe Alou, Corey Koskie and Matt Stairs

Rhu, you going to either if the twins games in stl?
*sigh*
My neighbor had a ticket for me for Monday night, but with my new hip, trying to sit that long and not bend my hip more than 90°...i think I'm having to pass ?
So, I feel like the officiating in this game 5 has been pretty bad, although I missed the first quarter.
Yes. Pretty bad. On both ends.
Also, I thought that JR Smith's flagrant could easily have been a 2. That was egregious crap and completely unnecessary.
Random thing I find interesting, Nolan Ryan's 5th no hitter had 6 future managers and 2 future executives take the field
Wow. Great game tonight. LeBron was spectacular, but not enough. Cleveland's small lineup just is not good enough (but oh so close).
Still waiting for Klay Thompson to earn his Finals check.
