Going back to the recap of yesterday's game: against a poor team, that's a base hit and a run. Against a good team with a good defense, it's a double play and the inning's over.
The Twins are hitting some balls hard. Maybe it'll pay off eventually.
Next year?
Eddie Nunez has 20 hits this season. 11 of them have been for extra bases (9 doubles, a triple, a HR)
If Buxton plays everyday for the rest of the season, how many infield hits will he get. 25+ ?

Also, the Twins have officially released Tim Stauffer, who had been DFA'd last week. He's a free agent. Ryan: "It just didn't work out."
Who predicted it would work out?
Somewhat in the Twins' defense, there was no real reason to think Stauffer would be as terrible as he was. He had no business being on the major league roster as long as he was, but I wouldn't have had a big problem with putting him in the Rochester bullpen and seeing if he could get straightened out. I suspect someone will give him another chance, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him work his way back to the majors at some point.
The Jason Marquis route.
I only noticed this because he was on my fantasy team, but Geltz, a reliever for Tampa Bay, started the first two innings of the game, and then Andriese, the scheduled starter, came in in the 3rd inning. All this was planned for... whatever reason.
Interesting strategy...?
Possible rain in the forecast?
He did the same thing in April, apparently.
That was a straight bullpen game. No one pitched more than 2 innings.
I suppose one would want to think about effects on things like the increase of hitter effectiveness vs. pitchers on each trip through the order.
That's one benefit I was considering. Not just the obvious of adjusting to different pitchers, but the break in routine of doing it that early in the game. Or something? I dunno, sounded interesting.
I think it might make sense if you start a lefty for a couple innings and then bring in a RH starter with pretty wide splits. Then the opponent has to decide if they want to keep using a lineup with matchup problems or use their bench very early in the game. Both Geltz and the guy that followed for 4 innings were right-handed.
Twins baseball: we finally get a hit with a man in scoring position, and we still don't score.
TWINS BASEBALL!!!!!
Now that's TWINS BASEBALL!!!!!!
TWINS BASEBALL!!
Even though he struck out, the leadership Hunter showed while doing it was clearly the key to the rally.
Okay, first time I've heard it pronounced "Sanyo"
Sounds like an endorsement deal to me!
And Chris HerrMON and Kennies Vargas
YDNROER!
Molina was out by about 25 feet.
Dozier with time for tea before Molina made it to second.
Okay Yadi, that was just embarrassing - you got greedy
FSN pops up a graphic that says Buxton eats 4-6 bags of Skittles before every game. No wonder he's quick.
Now I'm waiting with baited breath for his "I'm here so I don't get fined" press conference.
And Molitor to pinch-run for him in the 9th inning of Game 7.
Even with Green Apple instead of Lime? Ewww.
He's now in the bigs, he can pay someone to sort the Green Apples out of the so-called "original" and replace them with the Limes pulled out of "Darkside".
He did have a large signing bonus. He could have set aside enough to have someone do the replacement until now.
Buxton's getting picked on badly by Cardinals pitching
Good first inning for Milone.

Most amazing thing I've seen in Target Field history you gotta click that.
That may only be topped by a Stauffer shirsey in three years.
Sounds like a great present. I bet it's on sale too!
they made more than one of those?
I saw someone wearing that at a game earlier this year. I wonder if it was the same guy.
It has to be, otherwise I don't even know.
Clueless Cards announcers - when Joe hit over 20 HRs, he did NOT pull most of them
That second AB to Joe earlier was some incredibly Cowboying.
BB scores standing up on that, amiright?
