Minor Details: Games of June 16

Oswaldo Arcia homers for the Red Wings.  A three-run rally with no hits is truly a Miracle.  Another strong performance by Felix Jorge.  Miguel De Jesus has been awesome for the DSL Twins.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 6, ROCHESTER 4 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in two.  Oswaldo Arcia was 1-for-4 with a home run and a walk.  Eric Fryer was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.

Pitching stars:  Mark Hamburger pitched two perfect innings.  Cole Johnson pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a walk with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Ramon Flores was 3-for-4 with a home run (his fifth) and three runs.  Rob Segedin was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Gregorio Petit was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

The game:  The RailRiders got one in the third, two in the fourth, and two in the sixth to go up 5-0.  Rodriguez had a two-out two-run single in the bottom of the sixth, but the Red Wings trailed 6-2 going to the bottom of the ninth.  Arcia homered and Ryan Wheeler doubled in a run, bringing the tying run to the plate with one out, but that was as close as the Red Wings would come.

Of note:  Danny Santana was 0-for-4 with a walk.  James Beresford was 1-for-4 with a run.  Danny Ortiz was 0-for-4.  Pat Dean pitched five innings, giving up five runs on nine hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

FORT MYERS 5, DAYTONA 4 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Alex Swim was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, driving in two.  Zach Granite was 1-for-3 with two walks and a run.

Pitching stars:  Ryan Eades struck out seven in 6.1 innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and no walks.  Brian Gilbert pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Carlton Daal was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Phillip Ervin was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his tenth.  Amir Garret pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  The Miracle scored single runs in the first and fourth to up 2-0, but Ervin's two-run homer tied it in the sixth and Daal's RBI double put the Tortugas up 3-2 in the seventh.  It was 4-2 going to the bottom of the ninth.  With two out and none on a hit batsman, an error, and a walk loaded the bases, another walk brought home a run, and a two-run error brought home the tying and winning runs.

Of note:  Engelb Vielma was 0-for-3 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.  Marcus Knecht was 1-for-4 with a walk.

CEDAR RAPIDS 2, BURLINGTON 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Batting stars:  Tanner English was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Jorge Fernandez was 1-for-3 with a run.

Pitching stars:  Felix Jorge pitched seven innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.  Luke Bard pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout despite giving up three hits.  Trevor Hildenberger pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Wade Wass was 1-for-4 with a home run, his third.  Jake Yacinich was 2-for-4.  Justin Anderson pitched 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

The game:  Wass led off the third with a home run that put the Bees up 1-0.  It stayed 1-0 until the eighth, when a single, a walk, and a single loaded the bases with one out.  With two down, consecutive walks to English and Nick Gordon to give the Kernels a 2-1 lead.  The Bees went down in order in the ninth.

Of note:  Gordon was 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Zack Larson was 1-for-4.  Alex Real was 0-for-3.

DSL TWINS 5, DSL DODGERS 2 AT DODGERS

Batting stars:  Jorge Acosta was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Darling Cuesto was 2-for-5 with a run.  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.

Pitching star:  Miguel De Jesus struck out six in 4.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and no walks.  In 15.2 innings, he has given up no runs on six hits and one walk with twenty-two strikeouts.

Opposition stars:  Jhoan Calderon was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.  Cristian Santana was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Wally Vrolijk pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit with one strikeout.

The game:  The Twins scored two in the third and the Dodgers tied it with two in the fifth.  It stayed 2-2 until the eighth, when the Twins scored three times to take control of the game.

Of note:  Edwin Franco was 1-for-4.  Jean Carlos Arias was 1-for-5 with an RBI.  Jorge Parra was 1-for-4 with a walk.  Antonio Tovar was 1-for-5 with a double and a run.  Huascar Ynoa struck out five in 4.1 innings, giving up two runs on two hits and four walks.
