35 years ago today, my grandfather was killed in a car accident. It was a stunning, awful day. Those awful days happen every once in a while. I always remember him on this day, but here's the thing: I barely remember him anymore. The memories that I had, that were so vivid back then, have all faded, replaced now by attributes.

My father had an angiogram this week, and he'll be getting a double bypass done next Thursday. He's 85, so that's going to be fun.
Yikes. Best wishes. Will you loan him your walker?
The walker was already a loaner to me, and I've already passed it along to a friend of mine who is having a hip replaced today
Sounds like things are
lookingstanding up!I'm finding myself forgetting my cane now when I go between rooms, etc. Starting to make myself take the stairs more normally. Drove for the first time yesterday (my wife's car; mine is a stick). Latest issues have been muscle cramps and a bit of swelling in my foot. Overall I can't complain -- I'm getting there.
So I was going to build a one speed bike this summer but ran out of patience finding the right frame that would fit me. So screw it, I bought a new one instead. I did swap out the pedals, handlebars and tires however. Today I was so excited riding it to work for the first time I forgot my helmet and I'm one of those guys who gets in Facebook arguments about the foolishness of not wearing a helmet while biking (I'm #teamhelmet). Still have the old bike but am making that long trips only. Anyway here's a photo of my new wheels.
I saw one of your helmet arguments. I was shocked that someone would actually take the other side on that one.
I'm sick of having to drive on the right hand side of the road. #freedom
I had a defense attorney telling me once about how there was no goddamn way the govnit was ever going to make him wear a helmet while he was riding his motorcycle. Um, ok.
That was one of the dumber conversations I ever subjected myself to reading.
Nice! And shiny.
The bike can be converted to a fixed gear quite easily and has a bottle opener built into the seat hardware!
Für deine Radler!

Now we're talking. Man, what a time to be alive.
heh, what this guy said.
Did the bad gateway steal my CoC, too? No matter. I don't remember what it was anyway.
Unlikely. It's an all or nothing thing. Getting it once means the back end crashed and will stay down until it gets restarted. That doesn't happen until I notice or someone mentions it on Facebook or tweets @thewgom.
speaking of which, are we about due for another fundraiser?
Hypothetically, we're closing on Monday. But there was apparently a problem with the assessment. That apparently got fixed, but no one knows if the underwriters are even going to look at it for a few days. So... here's hoping!
Both times we've "closed," we got to the location to close only to discover errors requiring a postponement. Don't take their word for it, read everything before signing!
I will. I already have been. I hope it doesn't get delayed though, as we've got help lined up for later in the week...
The final cribbage match of round two has finally been completed. I got off to a great start skunking the crap out off Zee, only to get skunked by one point in game two. The third game was much better, though, with me prevailing by a single point. I almost got beat by having the deal on the last hand and not counting first, but zee had 10 when he needed 11.
Technically, you won the best out of 3 after the skunk
I actually couldn't remember if we were going with that rule, so just figured it would be better to pay out the string. Good thing I got the initial skunk then.
Technically you're only playing with that rule if you agree to it ahead of time.
Yeah I'm not saying there's any specific rule for our tournament. I was just being obnoxious.
SAVE IT FOR THE CUBS
I figured out how the Twins are winning!
