Minor Details: Games of June 20

Ervin Santana makes his first start and James Beresford stays hot in a Red Wings win.  Max Kepler continues to hit in a Lookouts win.  Nick Gordon is starting to hit, but it's not enough for the Kernels.  The DSL Twins split a suspended doubleheader.

ROCHESTER 10, LOUISVILLE 1 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-5 with a home run (his sixth) and a double, scoring three times and driving in three.  James Beresford was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.  Danny Ortiz was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.

Pitching stars:  Ervin Santana pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Lester Oliveros struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up only a walk.  Cole Johnson pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit with one strikeout.

Opposition star:  Irving Falu was 1-for-3 with a triple and a walk.

The game:  Two singles, a double, and two more singles produced three runs in the first for the Red Wings.  Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in a three-run fifth that put the Red Wings up 7-1 and put the game out of reach.

Of note:  Danny Santana was 2-for-5 with a triple, scoring once and driving in one.  Eric Fryer was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run.

CHATTANOOGA 7, JACKSONVILLE 4 IN CHATTANOOGA

Batting stars:   Travis Harrison was 2-for-5 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in three.  Niko Goodrum was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Max Kepler was 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs.

Pitching stars:  Jake Reed struck out three in two perfect innings.  Zach Jones pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.  Nick Burdi pitched one inning, giving up an unearned run on one walk.

Opposition stars:  Viosergy Rosa was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.  Michael Morse was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Trevor Williams struck out seven in five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks.

The game:  Rosa had a two-run double in a three-run fourth that put the Suns up 3-0.  The Lookouts got two back in the bottom of the fourth but still trailed 3-2 after six.  In the seventh, Harrison delivered a three-run double in a four-run inning that also featured three walks and a hit batsman.  Each team scored once in the eighth.

Of note:  Levi Michael was 0-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Miguel Sano was 0-for-4 with a run.  Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Jose Berrios pitched five innings, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

CLINTON 7, CEDAR RAPIDS 4 IN CLINTON

Batting stars:  Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Brian Navaretto was 3-for-4 with a run.  Max Murphy was 1-for-4 with a home run, his third.

Pitching stars:  Miles Nordgren struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up five hits.  Michael Theofanopoulos struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Estarlyn Morales was 2-for-5 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two.  Arby Fields was 3-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Tyler Herb pitched six innings, allowing an unearned run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

The game:  The LumberKings scored four in the first and built a 7-0 lead through four innings.  The Kernels got on the board in the sixth and closed to 7-4 in the ninth but did not bring the tying run up to bat.

Of note:  Tanner English was 0-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.  Edgar Corcino was 1-for-4 with an RBI.  Brett Doe was 1-for-4.  Sam Gibbons pitched four innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

DSL TWINS 3, DSL GIANTS 1 AT GIANTS (COMPLETION OF SUSPENDED GAME)

Batting stars:  Jorge Munoz was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Jean Carlos Arias was used as a pinch-hitter and was 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI.

Pitching stars:  Jadison Jimenez pitched four innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks with two strikeouts.  Carlos Suniaga pitched two perfect innings.  Robener Cabrera pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Manuel Geraldo was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.  Sandro Cabrera pitched six shutout innings, allowing four hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

The game:  Andres Angulo singled in a run in the second inning to put the Giants ahead 1-0.  It stayed 1-0 until the ninth, when the Twins scored three times on one hit.  They got two walks, a passed ball, and an error in the inning.  The Giants went down in order in the bottom of the ninth.

Of note:  Emmanuel Morel was 1-for-4.  Jorge Parra was 1-for-4.  Antonio Tovar was 1-for-3.

DSL GIANTS 6, DSL TWINS 2 AT GIANTS (SCHEDULED GAME--7 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Jhonathan Alvarez was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.  Emmanuel Morel was 1-for-2 with two walks.  Edgar Herrera was 2-for-4.

Pitching stars:  Randolph Perez pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks with one strikeout.  Brusdar Graterol struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Jose Patino was 2-for-2 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Robert Antunez was 1-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Melvin Adon pitched five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  Each team scored once in the second.  Alvarez doubled in a run in the top of the fourth to put the Twins ahead 2-1, but the Giants responded with five in the bottom of the fourth to take control of the game.  Three singles, a walk, and three more singles produced the runs.  The Twins loaded the bases in both the sixth and the seventh but did not score again.

Of note:  Jean Carlos Arias was 1-for-4.  Junior Amarante was 1-for-3 with a walk.
