I ran a trail run on Thursday night at Penwood State Forest with some friends - good temps, great run. At one point, I tripped on a root and started to fall, but recovered. Didn't notice anything weird that night.
All day Friday I felt sore, and it hurt to stand up. This morning, we were to do a triathlon at Lake Waramaug (Hopkins) and I could barely stand from a sitting position without wincing pain.
NBBW did well but I sat it out, and read Pynchon in a camp chair along the route. Not sure what the injury is but I'm thinking something in the hamstring cluster.
What is the Nation doing for fitness besides watching the Tour de France trying to run over cows?
Here's hoping the recovery is speedy!
I got to play around a little on a slackline yesterday. I'm not sure I did enough for it to count as exercise, but it was fun.
Currently in the waiting room to see the doctor with hopefully my last hip checkup. I'm getting in and out of cars "the right way" now, have been driving my (manual transmission) car for a couple weeks, but still fighting tight quads. Considering that my left leg was lengthened a centimeter, I'd expect that, I guess. Looking forward to upgrading my laps at the Y to a light jog.
what is "the right way"?
I always turn as close to perpendicular to the vehicle as I can (ass toward the vehicle) before sitting, then rotate into the vehicle, as a means of protecting my back.
It was a big deal when I could get into the car leg first. Standard recovery technique is to sit first (seat leaning back) pull yourself as far in as you can, and then swing both kegs in.
I wouldn't think you could be moving kegs around so close to your post-op. Good on ya!
Mmmm, looks like Android has a sense of humor.
Swimming with children ... not hard work, but constant movement.
Moved a 10 cu. yd. pile of black dirt up a hill with a shovel and 4 cu. ft. wheelbarrow ... hard work and constant movement.
Laid 700 sq. ft. of sod ... wait, is this a fitness or home-improvement post?
you're covered either way
Took the family on 10 mile ride on Dakota Trail. Started in St. Boni and went west past Lake Waconia. Really nice trail. Paved. Only one run-in with a too-fast a-hole as he was pi$$ed that we stopped for stop sign. Also had to give lecture to 9 y.o. who apparently didn't understand what hearing STOP! and CAR! meant.
After a week of rest and recovery, the hamstring is back and in good form. So I think it was a level 1.3 strain. Ibuprofen seemed to help for the first couple of days. Have to go on a work trip to NoCar, but plan to bring running shoes along and give it a go.
Did 400M increasing repeats on the treadmill this morning in humid Raleigh, Nocar. First run in 10 days. Looking good, boys.
Was hoping to do Thurs night trail run again with my peeps but am hearing that H'istan might have temps in the Franklins on Wed and Thu. Crax.
