If its a 1 night only thing Im fine with that. If its a long term thing I have a problem.
I know who Hicks could replace!
I don't think Hicks can pitch anymore.
He could do it from center.
Couldn't be any worse than the start Pelf is off to.
Gah, I meant Hicks for Hunter with Buxton in center!
Plenty of seats available for this game!
Mauer was not given a sliding lane there.
Is CB Bucknor making these rulings?
Mauer didn't look like he tried to avoid it -- slid for the heart of the plate instead of the outside, which surprised me a little. Not that I agree with the call, though.
Dick and Jack are right, why bother having the rule if that type of play doesn't apply?
fastball in the middle of the plate. Rasmus hit it about 700 feet.
In '93? Not yet, they weren't. Check out Thome and Ramirez; they hadn't entered their prime yet.
Ramirez and Thome maybe not, but Belle was a force, Lofton and Baerga both batted above .320, and Milligan technically batted well over .400 after being picked up by the Indians that year.
I think Chris Herrmann has a better chance at getting a hit than Torii Hunter.
He needs to show his veteran leadership and tell Molitor he needs to be on the bench.
They let Pelfrey pitch 1 inning too many.
He hit a 314 foot grand slam!
holy crap. That close to getting out of it, and then gives in to the #9 batter.
Like I said last time, Pelfrey belongs in the pen.
You're being generous- I'd rather see him in a different uniform.
For a team in the American Association.
For a team in the American League. That we face often.
He throws in the low to mid 90s. Liam Hendriks went from a starter with a 68 ERA+ to a reliever with a 149 ERA+ this year. Late in the season for Pelfrey to make the transition but I think he could be pretty good when he instead throws in the mid to high 90s.
At this point there's really no one to replace him with in the rotation. Berrios isn't coming up. May's not coming out of the pen. There's no real reason to think any of the other AAA starters would do better in that few starts.
I wouldn't have a problem with trying him in the bullpen next year. My concern about that, though, is that if he's around, the Twins won't be able to resist putting him in the rotation.
Don't need a 5 man rotation in the playoffs. Pelfrey is going to strikeout Puig to win the World Series in the 15th inning.
Ah, now it's the Blaine Boyer experience? I'll be finding another way to waste my evening.
Do you think Mike Trout really eats a sweet onion teriyaki Subway sandwich everyday?
He came into the game with a 3.85 ERA. Unless he admits to an injury, there's no chance of that happening this time through the rotation.
He left with a 4.17 ERA
You like to cherry pick your stats. We judge this individual start by xFIP but his entire season by ERA? Not so coincidentally, his xFIP was much better than his ERA in this game but his ERA for the season is better than his xFIP for the season.
Monitor opts to bench Buxton in favor of Hicks.

From Pelfrey? No way.
The TV guys were talking about Jim Abbott's no hitter.
That was a formidable Cleveland lineup

I dont.
Well...
I was expecting a Snopes link.
Please tell me that was Pelfrey's last start.
