I left my iPod at home today for no good reason.
Looks like I'll be listening to 1) Youtube, 2) Pitchfork, 3) the few CDs I keep at work for such unfortunate happenings.
What's your backup?

Starting out with The Cinematic Orchestra presents Soundtrack Collection 1, I see that they released a new album three years ago and it's up on Bandcamp. The band's Every Day is a particular favorite.
I keep all of my music on my phone, so I never forget it. At work, I stream from Google Play.

I'm now to the point in having a few paychecks built up for disposable purposes, I've purchased replacement parts for my iPod. I'm not sure if it's the battery or the HDD, so I'm replacing the battery all together and upgrading the HDD to a solid-state CF card. Parts are en route from Amazon. This time next week, and I should have a fully functioning iPod that will weigh less and have no moving parts in the storage, so it should be much less prone to something going wrong. Here's the kicker, all this will cost way less than a brand new iPod.
I pretty much just listen to Pandora at work.
I don't even have an iPod. My wife has an iPod mini from... a long time ago.

I don't think Pandora or a similar service would satisfy me. I'm guessing there are limited options for Aaron Dilloway, Will Oldham bootlegs, and Bird calls, just to name a few.
It does get a bit redundant at times. I try to freshen up my seeds, and rotate through a bunch of different stations.
I've been occasionally impressed with the depth of the cuts, but never with the diversity of them.

Turns out I also missed a new Robyn mini-album with "La Bagatelle Magique", which was begun with Christian Falk before he passed away.
I also missed that Christian Falk had passed away. Here's my favorite of his songs (The Robyn-album version without Ola Salo really wants for his bgvox) :

The two in the video are actors; not Robyn, Salo, or Falk.
AMR, my battery is fast diminishing, so I'll be in your boat soon. I have a small, odd pile of CDs in a desk drawer. We're not supposed to use streaming services (bandwidth!), so I try to comply most of the time.
No list today; I'm listening to full albums as background music to drown out the sound of my coworkers who have the temerity to do such things as talk, walk, and eat.
P.S. I'm unaccustomed to seeing you in long sleeves. I guess fall really is imminent.
Fridays when we have FMD is the only time I bring my iPod because I have a personal cell that's an Android and a work-issued phone. Bringing three devices drives me nuts.
As a result, I actually don't listen to much at work because cubicles and for some reason, I don't really like the one-eared ear buds. But, when I do, it's typically Spotify or Pandora. This will change today though; I'm buying an iPhone.*
1. Jack – Tom Petty

B. Kiss the Bride – Elton John
This thing was looking sooooo good ... then the Bonus track hits.
*don't tell cheaptoy.
My personal cell is four-years-old and I never took the initiative to upgrade so speed and playing music therefore sucks.
#7 was the one that tripped me up.
I listen to music on Mr. NaCl's old phone--an iPhone 3 that no longer functions as a phone. I use it for music and podcasts (and checking email when connected to wifi). I've run out of space for music, though, so I'm going to have to come up with a new plan soon.
My backup is my big 160GB iPod (~7000 songs) that I just leave at work most every night, I only take it home to update it with new purchases and such. My little 16GB one I carry back and forth with audiobooks, podcasts, and my most recent music acquisitions (~500 songs right now).

* Lucky - Radiohead - OK Computer
** My brother named Cold War Kids and Radiohead as his favorite two bands the last time we had a music discussion, so I picked this up to form an opinion (we generally have different likes/dislikes, but if it's his favorite band, I feel like I owe it a listen).
*** Best Puscifer song out there by a wide margin
