She's 11! She's still a kid, too, which is fun, though I can see that part of her life ending before too long.

We won one and we lost one.
Chattanooga takes the Southern League championship, beating Biloxi 4-0. Stuart Turner and Shannon Wilkerson each had a run-scoring hit in the second and Max Kepler homered in the third. D. J. Baxendale pitched five shutout innings and Jason Wheeler pitched four shutout innings of relief. Congratulations to the Chattanooga Lookouts, your Southern League Champions!
The news was not as good in the MIdwest League. Austin Diemer homered in the third and Edgar Corcino tripled and scored in the fourth to give Cedar Rapids a 2-0 lead, but West Michigan came back to score three in the fifth. They had only two hits in the inning, getting two walks, a hit batsman, and two wild pitches, one of which brought home the go-ahead run. The Kernels got only one hit after the fourth inning. Starter Randy LeBlanc, who had been a reliever until late in the season, pitched four strong inning but probably tired in the fifth. Cedar Rapids had only four hits.
Decided to look up the standings of the teams. Rochester finished four games back of Scranton with a record of 77-67. The Miracle are a real-life example of Simpson's Paradox. The finished the year with the best record of the division at 76-63 but, if I'm reading this right, they did not make the playoffs because they finished second in the first half and third in the second half. Instead, the first half winner finished last in the second half and the second half winner finished last in the first half.
I love that the fictional example the Repository uses to describe Simpson's Paradox uses the names Bart and Lisa.
11 ballots in so far. Keep 'em coming.
Managed to get mine in last night after all.
Done - sorry for the delay.

Jon snow lives!!!!!
If anyone is looking for something to do on Saturday, I have a rugby match in St. Paul (Maplewood, technically). I think kick-off is 10AM, but I'm not 100% sure on that yet. I'll keep people posted, but I wanted to say something early enough so people could plan.
The address is:
Afton Heights Park
Upper Afton Rd.
Maplewood, MN 55119
And a reminder of lunch on Friday in St. Paul (I can be there around 1, maybe 12:45...) at... location? Someone who knows something?
We usually meet in the food court of Town Square (2nd floor/skyway level) - 445 N Minnesota Street.
12:45 or 1:00 PM is fine for me, but I'm wide-open for lunch hours.
I have to leave around 2, so anything that will finish by then is fine.
Wolves will hold free TC open scrimmage Monday, Oct. 5 at 7 pm. Tickets needed, claim 'em online http://t.co/IniGUKW6JY tomorrow at 10 am
