...when he thinks, oh wait, it's Friday already?
Okay, um, how about everyone talk about that time... when they dropped their lists?
No one's supposed to read these things anyway, right?

That's a pretty remarkable AMR impression. Now make a list that includes bird calls.
Actually, I've meaning to put stuff like some of these or a bit of this into this library to spice up the rotation a bit.
Be prepared to find the occasional entry titled such as:
Ah, numbers stations. Good times.
Okay, so last night on my drive home, that was the episode of 99% Invisible I listened to. Weeeeeird
Intriguing...
Do you have any of those as mp3s? Does iTunes recognize .ogg files?
iTunes...how quaint.
How long did you hold on to your 8-tracks?
I believe you think I'm older than I really am. Also, I think that should have been my question.

1-4. Oh man I love this part of the list.
4. A couple weeks ago we saw a rainbow. Aquinas, understanding that rainbows are made when there is both sun and rain present started singing “coming down on a sunny day.” It’s good to know I’m doing something right.
7. I’ve actually been to Mykonos. It was nothing like the song when I was there. Anyway, the point of this story is “look how well-traveled and worldly I am!”
Re:4 - At one point this summer I heard Josh going between A Ship to Wreck and Ave Maria. I had the same thought.

B. Will Oldham, writing songs about things no one else does:
"Yes, I'm quieter, tireder, more apt to say: 'You go on, boys, I'm good. Think I'll stay in today.'
(You ain't older.) Yes, I'm older, but that's not why the scales have tipped.
Oh you know I've been chosen to be whipped....
Must be love:
I'm whipped and cowed.
And I'll whoop and holler,
If I'm allowed."
This is the best song I've heard in a minute. Good lord.

And, as predicted, I have to thank Bootsy for something new I've been listening to this past week (although it's not in the list).
Speaking of #2 & 10 - I heard Johnny Cash's version of "You Are My Sunshine" on a car commercial yesterday. That is not a happy song if you read the lyrics, and his version is definitely more in line with a literal reading of the lyrics than the upbeat version most people recognize. Not a great combo. I always wonder who decides these things, and are they dense or just consider the commercial viewers dense.
I learned the song from French's Mustard commercials.
So I didn't know the verses until adulthood and still picture it as something between "Big Rock Candy Mountain" and "My Bologna has a first name..."
There are probably others in the same boat.
Why is this conversation reminding me of something? Oh yeah, it's been almost a year since the last time we discussed "You Are My Sunshine."
Since you're thanking me, I'll assume you like it. 😉
Wonderful live solo version of "Betsy on the Roof."

Saw the Big Star shindig this week at First Avenue. Lots of fun. Man was it cool to see some of those song played live.
Really bummed I missed that Big Star gig. (I was on the guest list--thx, Boquist) but a 5:15 start time at work scared me off. Cruel irony, I couldn't fall asleep and was still awake at 1 AM.
Gig started at 8:40p and was done before 11:00p which was nice for a school night.
B2 is a solid track.
