There's more grit in that photo than I can handle.
R. I. P. Dean Chance, Twins pitcher from 1967-69, at the age of 74.
I stopped in to the brew shop today and had some good baseball talk with one of the guys who works there who is a twins fan from MN.
On the positive side, there's so much optimism for the team in the coming years that it's a lot of fun to run in to twins fans.
The only negative was that the asked me if the Mets won last night so I had to tell him how they lost. I was getting agitated describing the Utley play again.
so, just start looking for this, and imagine how nice it would be to drink one right now. That'll calm you down a bit.
I had a couple Hopalicious'es when I got home while I cleaned the garage. That helped.
I've always been hit or miss with Abita. We typically have Turbodog on tap at the curling club, but for some reason its always absurdly foamy. Plus, I'd just get tired of it after awhile. I also found Andygator to be kind of bad. But, once we did have Rot Iron, which was fantastic.
Which is what I'm drinking right now. There are only a handful of Abita beers I'll drink including these two and Restoration. Abita is kind of like Summit in the sense that they were first, and produce a solidly middle of the road product with a few outstanding seasonal / one offs. I got a bomber of the oyster for 3.49 because the cashier made a mistake. I'm pretty pleased considering that the bottle should have been 10 bucks, and it was pretty good.
I remember their flagship being pretty no thank you. It was Purple Haze or something, right? Pretty much the same as Magic Hat #9: not so much.
I am a fan of the Purple Haze, but generally agree with meat.
Purple haze is some sort of fruit beer that I find abject, sorry doc. The flagship is abita Amber which I also find to be too sweet.
It's a wheat beer with raspberry puree. Not sweet. YMMV.
I concur on the Amber, however.
I spent the weekend with FW's family, as it was FFiL's b-day. We were in NE Iowa, about 20 mi from Prairie du Chein, where we spent some time as well. Got a New Glarus sampler 12-pack, three each of Moon Man, Staghorn Oktoberfest, Two Women, and of course Spotted Cow. We also got a solo bottle of their pumpkin beer, Pie Lust for FW. Looking forward to trying these.
For a minute there I was thinking NG was selling in Iowa, and I was about to have words. But then I looked up Prairie du Chein.
Did someone say Pie? I totally want to try that beer.
Did someone say beer?
The Moon Man is growing on me.
Sampler I currenly have has Yokel - hoppy lager sort of thing - not too bad. In the least inappropriate way possible, the Two Women has been pretty enjoyable.
Holy moses, this is scary
