I'm not sure if the Vikings are just going to the Super Bowl or if they are going to win it.
judging by world events, we are on the cusp of Armageddon, so the Vikes will be going to the SB, and the world will end some time late in the 4th quarter with the Vikes in the lead.
What kind of odds would you give me on Armageddon vs. Vikes blowing it painfully? Ah, who am I kidding, I'd take Vikes blowing it painfully without seeing the odds.
Armageddon has never happened. How many times have the Vikings blown it painfully?
I.I.D. events.
Watching the games tells me they're not that good...but, apparently, neither is anybody else.
It all depends upon what is the most painful and novel way for it to end.
History repeats itself as a succession of farces.
Looks like the WGOM got it right, at least according to the official voters.
FW and I went out to Wright County to look at a cabin we're considering for the wedding venue. On the way we passed a new brewery in Annandale called Spilled Grain Brewing. The building is very charming in a rustic way, the beer is very tasty, and they have a game cabinet (Cribbage, Pictionary, the like) and foosball and bubble hockey. As we sat there we very seriously considered having our wedding reception there.
If you're ever in the area, I recommend it. It's only about 20ish minutes from the outlet mall in Albertville.
If nothing else, the emeritus should get some shwag. Their logo could be "SBG" instead of "SGB"
When I lived in Wessington Springs, I would often see large trucks with SBG on the side, for Swenson Brothers Grain.
For the IJ readers, here's something I came across this morning:

Who are most of these hacks?
This is neat. It would be fun to argue with some of the placements.
Franzen -- like Hemmingway, only moreso?
I was with Franzen up until this last one. Who boy, that's one bad book.
No Dostoevsky, eh? Probably ruins the chart by not conforming to the methodology.
Heh. I had a similar thought.
Sad to see Gary Pinkel stepping down. Another successful coach hit with health problems.
Regarding the Daily Cuppa ROY poll - a previous discussion and some numbers.
#6 Virginia comes to GW's Smith Center tonight. I'm so excited although I'm expecting a loss by about eight points. Credit to Virginia for having the guts to play a tough non-conference game on the road against a school from outside the power conferences. About 99% of coaches at big schools don't have the guts to play this game.
Thats a nice win.
I managed 5 in this week's Invisibles Quiz. How about you?
I can contribute nothing extra. But holy cow does #4 look like it should be a Dick VanDyke film or something (I've tried many, came up with nothing). The background makes it look like it's knowingly a movie set, but I haven't been able to get there.
I was going to go through and guess movies along those lines for number 4 as well, so glad I now don't have to!
My first thought for #4 was Bye, Bye Birdie - a Dick Van Dyke movie.
I tried that one. It didn't work. But boy does that look like it could be from "Put On A Happy Face."

Just #1, #7, and #8 for me today.
#4 looks like a musical
Deadspin, which has made public much of the NFL's internal dealings with Greg Hardy, has been disinvited to a talk by the NFL’s domestic violence expert.
The event had been open to all, then they had their ticket fee refunded and the event is now closed to the press. Stay classy, you guys.
I bet Deadspin double downs and churns out more damning and unflattering articles.
I don't know, do you think there's anything left to uncover?
There is always money in the banana stand.
This is stunning.
Who would have thought that the NFL would have done such a thing?
I took a little heat about my active boycott last year around here as in, why are you talking so much about it when you are purporting to not watch (hello, it was an active boycott), but this year, I'm just not watching. I continue to feel absolutely vindicated for every time I chose to say something negative about that shit hole excuse of a league.
I hear you. I have some very socially progressive friends who would not tolerate from any other industry the kinds of things going on in the NFL, both at the management and player levels. But the NFL gets a pass because Packers or other NFL team.
