One of the weirder albums I've picked up recently.

Looks live to me: he's twiddling knobs. If you ever seen Pan_Sonic, the Field, Aphex Twin, etc. concert footage, they don't do much else. When I saw Aphex Twin in concert back in 1999 or 2000, he didn't even have a table. He just laid on the floor of the First Ave stage with a laptop hooked up to the soundsystem through wires. Maybe he fed that to a second box, but I don't think so. For all I know, he just hit play on a prerecorded track and then played minesweeper. Even if that was the case, I listened to enough bootlegs from the tour that he at least prepared a different prerecorded track for each show.
OPN frustrates me to no end. This song, the title track from the same album, and some off Returnal (noisier and edgier) are quite good, but his albums don't seem to build or develop and neither has his output. He's gotten cheesy at times and sounds like a good soundtrack for a live-action Adult Swim awkward humor show. Is he being ironic? Is it bad on purpose? Where is he going? What is he doing? What's he point? I have no clue. He's close to being someone I could like a lot more, but for all of the issues above.
Also, I'd never seen his picture before. Perhaps he's an alias for Bobby Bare Jr.?

Ditto Tangerine Dream (yes, there was some keyboarding), although Klaus Schulze did a couple solos on guitar. I felt bad for Mrs. Runner and the other couple who attended the concert with me; I enjoyed the music a lot, but not a lot of action.
