My Mom was in town for a conference yesterday. She stopped by my office to drop off some stuff (borrowed travel mugs, random toys for the kids, etc.) and said she'd included a few (looked like about 25) of what she suspected might be my CD's, CD's they had that she didn't know the provenance of, or discs that they didn't want anymore and thought I'd like. I was pretty sure I'd collected all of my belongings from their house when we moved back to Minnesota 8 years ago, or in the interim, so I'll be interested to see what she gave me ... and what they think I like.
Anyway - drop your random below.
1. Because – The Wannadies
2. Everlasting Light – The Black Keys
3. House of Cards – Madina Lake
4. You – Breaking Benjamin
5. Away – Toadies
6. Roll Um Easy– Chris & Rich Robinson
7. Billion Dollar Babies – Alice Cooper
8. Love is Here and Now You’re Gone – Diana Ross & The Supremes
9. Lord Raise Me Up – Matisyahu
10. Gravity – A Perfect Circle
B1. Bowtie – Outkast
Hmm... it occurs to me that this might have been my last week to take. Oops. Thought last week was it.
...so then last week really was it!

*Notes:
2. This is good, but Jonathan Peters' 14-minute "Vocal Club Mix" is probably the best version of a pop song ever, so I keep thinking about how this could be a lot better. Kindof funny, I bought this largely for the Thunderpuss 2000 remix, as they'd hit a homerun with their remix of her prior single, "It's Not Right But It's Okay".
a. This is really cool, I hope to hear these some day. A long song (5 seconds) of short repeating phrases, maybe 6 of each. It reminds me of a "laser-gun" a neighbor kid had that would cycle through 20 different sound effects. "Zapzapzapzapzapzap pewpewpewpewpewpew chipchipchipchipchipchip dingdingdingdingdingding" etc.
5. Season 1 Closing Theme 2 for Aldnoah Zero
b. Missed these in South Carolina. I should have had a good chance, but I didn't spend much time in tidal marshes.
E. Not quite, but I've now hit Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky*, Virginia*, and South Carolina. (I had previous airport-only visits in KY and VA). Only states west of the River I've not been to are Arizona, Louisiana, and Hawaii. South Eastern states I've yet to visit are [Louisiana] through Georgia (I've been to Florida). North of Virginia, I've only been to New York and DC (possibly New Jersey territorial waters on the Staten Island Ferry). I also have not been to Michigan. So that's what... 32 states? Maybe the next trip should hit New England, though I'd rather go West again. I've also been to two Canadian provinces.
Question that doesn't apply to me: Can one who has visited Alert or Iqaluit in the '80s claim to have been to Nunavut?
20 States, 2 Provinces, 5 Mexican states
I would lean 'no' on your question, I guess, but don't have any solid reasoning for my response.
29 US States, 1 Canadian Province (Ontario), 1 Mexican State (Quintana Roo), all four Irish provinces, all 4 constituent countries of the UK, and 5 more countries not yet accounted for (Spain, France, Czech Republic, Austria, and Australia).
I wanna see NBB's list.

I didn't bother to add up European locations.
I've been in twenty-three states, which came as a surprise to me since I don't particularly like to travel. I've never been out of the United States, though.
I just looked and we've hit 41 states. Somehow we've managed to see every state that borders Arkansas without ever having stepped foot there.

Still listening to full albums almost exclusively. I'm just finishing Errol Garner's Concert by the Sea, which was and is a terrific record. Too bad Columbia cut 8 tunes when they released it. Up next is Robert Glasper's In My Element, Charles Lloyd & The Marvels I Long To See You, Gregory Porter's Holding On, and Snarky Puppy's Family Dinner: Vol. 2. All of those after Glasper are new this year – very exciting.
I also picked up Max Richter's Sleep, a new, eight-hour long concept album that is intended to both manifest sleep in musical form and put the listener to sleep. I have no idea when I'll be able to listen to in one sitting. Probably 2034?
Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson are playing Mankato at the end of June. Willie Nelson is probably #1 on my "I must see" list, especially now that he's getting up there in age. I will do my absolute best to be at this show.
I wish that wasn't a Tuesday night. I'd still be interested. It might be a mid-June decision however.
I just checked the Google map and that Mankato location is only 25 minutes further from my house than the Myth up north of St Paul.

BT. AMTHST - "Let It Go" from Euphoria EP
AMTHST is a collaboration between Nite Jewel and Droop E, E-40's son. It reminds me of trip hop's glory days, and it's something I had no idea I needed in my life this badly. It's tremendous.
I'm liking the new Kendrick Lamar album.

So, it reminds you of trip hop's "Glory Box" days?
