ROCHESTER 6, BUFFALO 3 IN ROCHESTER
The Red Wings scored five runs in the eighth to break a 1-1 tie. James Beresford capped the inning with a two-run triple. Pat Dean pitched seven strong innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks with two strikeouts. Ex-Twin Scott Diamond worked six shutout innings for the Bisons, allowing five hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Beresford was 3-for-5 on the day. Jorge Polanco was 2-for-3 with a walk, raising his average to .316.
BIRMINGHAM 14, CHATTANOOGA 13 IN CHATTANOOGA
The Lookouts blew leads of 5-1, 11-6, and 12-9 in losing. They had the tying run on second with two out in the ninth, but Mitch Garver struck out to end the game. There were all kinds of good batting performances, of course. Daniel Palka led the way, going 4-for-4 with a home run (his second), two doubles, and two walks. Travis Harrison was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second), a double, and a walk. David Hurlbut started and struck out six in four innings, but he also surrendered six runs on eight hits and a walk. None of the four relievers went unscored upon.
FORT MYERS 2, CHARLOTTE 0 IN FORT MYERS
The Miracle shutout the Stone Crabs for the second consecutive game. Randy Rosario pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, giving up six hits and no walks with two strikeouts. Danny Santana, on a rehab assignment, went 2-for-4 with a home run and scored both Miracle runs. Nick Gordon was given the day off.
CEDAR RAPIDS 9, CLINTON 0 IN CLINTON
Cody Stashak pitched six shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks with four strikeouts, as the Kernels cruised to victory. Zander Weil led the offense, going 4-for-5 with a triple and a double. Luis Arraez was 2-for-4 with a walk, raising his average to .364. LaMonte Wade was removed from Game One on Saturday and has not played since, leading one to believe he may have a minor injury.
