Tonight please tune in for the latest chapter in Who will have more career wins: Jose Berrios or Alex Meyer? Last night Berrios finally took the lead with a dominant 5.1-inning outing in a 6-2 victory over the Houston Astros. With that victory, Berrios (career: 1-1) now has a one win lead over Meyer. But don’t worry Alex Meyer (career: 0-3) fans, he will be facing those same said hapless Astros and odds are pretty good we will once again be tied with both pitchers finally getting their first MLB victory. Is Alex Meyer up to the challenge in his first Major League start? Can he stay neck-and-neck with the phenom? First pitch at 7:10p with DicknRoy calling the game.

DANNY SANTANA!
I'm switching over to this is ~20 minutes after the rugby match I'm watching is over.
Jose Berrios seems like an affable fellow.
So, this Alex Meyers guy....
I can't even get his name right *hangs head*
Meier
Mirer
Myer
Mayer
??
Like that 4/1 K/BB ratio but given Meyer's ball/strike ratio, I'm thinking it is unsustainable at this point. Hopefully, the Astros keep hacking.
I think that is fan interference.
Not like that, though.
How the hell is that a home run?
It's not. Even with video replay, umps are gonna Cuzzi.
Gameday showed Meyer having an 86 mph fastball followed by a 96 mph fastball. I'm guessing the first one was a changeup.
It was fun while it lasted.
Seems like an awfully quick hook for Meyer. Yeah, he's struggled some this inning, but he's gotten the last two batters on popups. If Molitor has that little faith in Meyer, he probably shouldn't have him in the rotation in the first place.
I think it was quick, too, but my guess would be that Meyer just hasn't had good location all game and his strike to ball ratio caught up with him. I don't think it has anything to do with faith other than Molitor hasn't seen him start in the big leagues, so he hasn't seen him be able to adjust on his own during a game. Gameday showed at least one of the popups came on a fastball down the middle of the plate. And I'm sure Molitor wasn't expecting to see a pinch hitter in the third inning. He's probably checking his rulebook to make sure this is allowed.
You may be right, but Molitor's never going to see Meyer adjust during a game if he keeps pulling him in the third inning. He's got to learn sometime. If you're not going to give him a chance to learn in the big leagues, then you shouldn't have him there.
Maybe they won't have him there
They don't. Meyer down, Graham up. I'm guessing they just want to see the Dread Pirate's head explode.
Graham has been awful at Rochester this year. I continue to have no confidence that the management of this club knows what it's doing.
Good thing we got that extra reliever since Ryan O'Rourke has to so tired.
Four starters and ten relievers. Sure, Milone will likely start next but he was just removed from the rotation.
At least we know that Berrios will be staying in the rotation at least until Gibson gets back.
This isn't really a criticism of Dazzle, because I hear lots of announcers say this, but one of my pet peeves is when an announcer says, like Dazzle just did, "They're forced to play the infield in." No, they're not. They're not forced to do anything. Molitor is making a choice to play the infield in. Maybe it's a good choice. Maybe it's the best choice. But it's still a choice. He's not forced to do it.
Balking a runner in. Yep.
Sure a good thing we pulled Meyer so soon.
Mayday
Smart play by Altuve keeping the glove on Sano. But man, tough break sliding in to second and coming off for a split second after a slide...it stinks.
PARK BANG!
second deck, opposite field. man o man
King of the solo homer
If Park isn't invited to the home run derby, then there's no point in having it. They'll get their best ratings ever from Korea.
He's number one in the AL in AB per HR. If he comes even close to this pace, he'll get an invite.
He's been saving up his bat flips for it!
