Five singles, three walks, and an error produced five Chiefs runs and gave them a 7-1 lead, putting the game out of reach. Logan Darnell, who'd made three good starts in a row, lasted only 2.1 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks with no strikeouts. Byron Buxton was 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk. Juan Centeno was 2-for-4 with a home run.

Edgar Corcino hit a two-run homer (his second) in the third to tie it 2-2 and then hit a two-run single to cap a three-run fourth that put the Miracle in the lead to stay. Kohl Stewart was pulled after only five innings and 82 pitches, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts. John Curtiss pitched two shutout innings, giving him eleven scoreless innings to begin the season, eight in Cedar Rapids and three in Fort Myers. Corcino was 2-for-4 with a walk. Logan Wade was 3-for-4. Nick Gordon was 0-for-2 with a walk, dropping his average to .309.
CEDAR RAPIDS 3, LANSING 0 IN LANSING
Randy LeBlanc pitched seven shutout innings, giving up seven hits and no walks with five strikeouts, Nick Anderson closed it out with two perfect innings as the Kernels blanked the Lugnuts. Two Lansing pitchers matched LeBlanc zero for zero until the seventh, when A. J. Murray hit a solo homer to make the score 1-0. Cedar Rapids added two in the ninth as LaMonte Wade homered and Murray delivered an RBI single. Murray was 2-for-4 on the day. Wade was 2-for-3 with a walk, raising his average to .354. Murray's homer was his third; Wade's was his second. LeBlanc now has an ERA of 1.16 and a WHIP of 0.87 with 21 strikeouts in 31 innings.
