The Bay area seems to be the center of U.S. sports universe with San Jose in the Stanley Cup Finals, Golden State in the NBA finals and our plucky Twins in the middle of a three day stint in Oakland. What is a discerning Bay denizen going to do? Well at least for tonight the Twins-Athletics have the attention all to themselves. Even better, Byron Buxton is back and here’s some Gleeman if you are so inclined. Tyler Duffy brings his 2-3 record against someone called Eric Surkamp and his 6.55 ERA to match his 0-3 record. Game time is 9:05p Central so you have time to get the young ones in bed before settling down.

There is a 80% chance I dont make it past the 6th inning because I will fall asleep.
Hey, that's the same odds as the Twins have!
100% and 3rd inning for me
I didnt make it past the 3rd inning.
Robby "Not Rex" Grossman
On the board!
I feel bad for Twins pitchers.
C'mon Sano.
Always that last step that messes up the hamstring.
2nd TJ surgery, here we come.
When it rains, it pours
Just tuned in. What happened?
Beat out a double play, double the hammy issues for the Twins.
Jed Lowrie really wanted to get tossed.
Uno.
Of all the issues the Twins-fans have experienced this year, a Butters-level Brian Dozier may be my least favorite one. He just can't seem to get it going.
Butters-level is a bit of an exaggeration. Dozier's OPS+ coming into this game for the season was 75. Butera's career OPS+ is 43. His best previous season was a 59. He does have a 96 so far this year, but just guessing that, that will do down quickly with Sal Perez hurting.
Also, Dozier not alone. Plouffe has been just as bad (also 75 OPS+) but seems to get a pass for whatever reason, even though he's playing the position that Sano would be more comfortable with.
Dozier is actually fourth among Twins position players in rWAR at 0.4. The only returning regular for the Twins ahead of him is Joe Mauer. Then it's Nunez and Park. Mauer's rWAR (1.7) is better than Nunez and Park combined (1.5).
socal, it was a throwaway comment about the guy playing every day, but managing a Butters-like .204 BA. Comparing him to the guy who for half of last season looked to be shades of Knoblauch.
Didn't mean to harp on it. I knew it wasn't a serious comment. I just decided to see how bad Dozier had been because I wouldn't have been surprised if he had been at a Butera level for this season. TV guys have been all over him but Plouffe has been just as bad and Escobar has been worse (though I think most don't expect much from Escobar despite the last 2 seasons). I just started looking at stats and commenting on what I was finding. I didn't mean to make a big deal of your comment.
Plouffe is getting a pass from the local media because...
a) his batting average is 40+ points higher.
b) his assumed ceiling is lower.
c) I'm pretty sure we still want to trade him this season.
I thought it was because he gives the local media Sheboygan sausages.
Easiest double ever there for Buxton.
