ROCHESTER 9, TOLEDO 7 IN ROCHESTER
The Red Wings once again got a big lead and held on, leading by 7-0 and 9-2 before finally winning 9-7. Logan Darnell again had a fine game, pitching eight innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts. He has shaved over a run off his ERA in his last four starts, going from 4.47 to 3.25. Logan Schafer was 3-for-5 with a double and is now batting .366 since joining Rochester. Eddie Rosario was 2-for-4 with a double and is batting .330. Jorge Polanco was 0-for-3 with two walks and is batting .315.
TENNESSEE 5, CHATTANOOGA 4 IN TENNESSEE
Victor Caratini's RBI triple in the seventh gave the Smokies the lead and he came around to score an insurance run later in the inning. Daniel Palka homered in the eighth to cut the lead to one but the Lookouts never advanced the tying run past first. Palka was 2-for-4 and a had a double to go with the home run, which was his sixteenth. He has hit four homers in his last four games. Shannon Wilkerson was 2-for-3 with a double. Engelb Vielma was 1-for-3 and is batting .324. David Hurlbut pitched six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Chattanooga made two errors which led to three unearned runs.
LAKELAND 4, FORT MYERS 2 IN LAKELAND
Wade Hinkle's two-run double gave the Flying Tigers a 2-1 lead and they added two more in the third to take control of the game. The Miracle cut it to 4-2 in the fourth but only once got the tying run on base. Stephen Gonsalves struck out eight in five innings but allowed four runs on five hits and two walks. Three of the hits allowed were doubles. Chris Paul was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double. Alex Real was 2-for-4.
PEORIA 3, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN PEORIA
The Chiefs scored all their runs in the third inning, getting two walks and three singles (one an infield hit) to plate three runs. Dereck Rodriguez pitched six innings, giving up three runs on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Sean Miller was 2-for-4 with a double. Chris Ibarra, recently signed out of the American Association, went 2-for-4 in his Kernels debut. Luis Arraez was 0-for-5, dropping his average to .308. LaMonte Wade did not play.
