ROCHESTER 3, SYRACUSE 1 IN ROCHESTER
Tommy Field hit a two-run homer in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie and give the Red Wings the win. Jose Berrios had another outstanding game, striking out nine in eight innings and giving up one run on three hits and a walk. Over his last seven starts his ERA is 1.27 with 52 strikeouts and 13 walks in 49.2 innings. It's just too bad the Twins are in a pennant race and all their starters are doing so well; otherwise, maybe they could take a chance on moving him up. Field was the only Red Wings with two hits, going 2-for-3. The home run was his eighth. Byung Ho Park was 1-for-3 with a home run, his fourth. Daniel Palka was 1-for-2 with a walk and is batting .327.
JACKSON 3, CHATTANOOGA 2 IN JACKSON
The Generals scored all three of their runs in the third. The Lookouts got two in the fourth but did nothing on offense after that. Omar Bencomo pitched well other than in the third, going five innings and giving up three runs on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Tyler Jay, Zack Jones, and Trevor Hildenberger each pitched a scoreless inning. Jones now has an ERA of 0.75 and Hildenberger is at 0.76. Niko Goodrum was 2-for-4 and is batting .304. Mitch Garver was also 2-for-4.
CLEARWATER 5, FORT MYERS 0 IN CLEARWATER (6 INNINGS--RAIN)
The Threshers scored one in the second and two in the third. Sam Clay threw a six-inning complete game, allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits and no walks with one strikeout. LaMonte Wade had two of the three Miracle hits, going 2-for-3 with a double to make his average .369. Reynaldo Rodriguez, on a rehab assignment, was 1-for-1 with two walks. It was the fifth straight loss for Fort Myers.
CEDAR RAPIDS 8, BOWLING GREEN 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS
Jaylin Davis hit a three-run homer in a five-run fifth that put the Kernels up 7-0. Davis was 2-for-4 and had a double in addition to the home run, which was his fourth. Manuel Guzman was 3-for-4 with a double. Luis Arraez was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk and is batting .336. He's only nineteen, but it seems like it's time to move him up to high-A. Sam Gibbons pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
ELIZABETHTON 12, JOHNSON CITY 8 IN ELIZABETHTON
The Twins made it twenty-nine runs in two games. They were behind 8-7 after five, but Lewin Diaz hit a grand slam in the sixth that put them ahead to stay. Alex Schick struck out six in 3.2 innings, but he surrendered eight runs on ten hits and a walk. Hector Lujan pitched 3.1 scoreless innings of relief. The Twins' first four batters each had three hits. Brandon Lopez was 3-for-4 with a triple and is batting .382. Travis Blankenhorn was 3-for-5 and is batting .304. Alex Kirilloff was 3-for-5 with a home run (his third) and is batting .360. Lewin Diaz was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk in addition to the grand slam, which was his fifth homer of the season. He is batting .315. The Twins are second in the league in scoring runs but are last in ERA.

Already leading 4-0, the Twins scored four in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Melvi Acosta pitched seven shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks with two strikeouts. In eight starts, his ERA is 1.47 and his WHIP is 0.88 with 37 strikeouts and 7 walks in 43 innings. Edgar Herrera was 2-for-4 with a double and is batting .330. Humberto Maldonado was also 2-for-4 with a double. Victor Tademo was 1-for-4 with a home run and is batting .320. Jorge Parra was 0-for-3 and is batting .307.
