I've got a feeling, a feeling deep inside
Oh yeah, oh yeah, that's right
I've got a feeling, a feeling I can't hide
No no no, oh no, oh no
Yeah yeah I've got a feeling yeah

So GW basketball is in the midst of a insane scandal. Last week, the Washington Post, which has a history of trying to take down GW's basketball program whenever things are going really well, published a mostly anonymously sourced story* about how the head coach is an abusive asshole who has been the subject of multiple Title IX investigations. According to the details the anonymous sources** told the Post:
-making such abusive statements to players that some have had to go into therapy including telling one player that he and his kids will never get off for stamps and telling another that he should join a transgender league
-being forced to have an Athletic Department official present all games, meetings, and practices to observe and monitor his behavior last season, and to have all practices videotaped
-telling at least one player that the reason the practices have to be videotaped is so the Athletic Director can masturbate to the footage
*citing five current or former players and one former team official (whatever the hell that means)
**When I say anonymous, I mean to the public. The Post certainly knows who these sources are.
On the main GW hoops forum, many posters are claiming they have talked to players and the whole thing is corroborated. Of course, these are new posters with no history at the forum, so no one can weigh their credibility. Other posters, who have years of posting from certain names so they have a task record of sharing insider info, vehemently denied the story on behalf of the coach, calling it lies and half-truths.
Then, another poster with a limited history on the site shared that actually the whole thing was leaked by the AD because he's in a feud with the coach. It alleges that the AD was having inappropriate contact with a player two years ago (no details of actual sexual contact, just having him over for dinner, etc.) and so he was barred by the university president from having any contact with the team last season (hence, the reason another person from the department was always around).
I should further note that before this scandal broke, the AD wasn't publicly out. The whole thing is crazy, and clearly the environment is so toxic that at least one, if not both, need to leave. Of course, this is right after winning the NIT, so the program had been riding a high. Ugh.
I saw that and was hoping you would opine.
Also, this comment made me chuckle. Then I remembered I'm a Gopher fan. So it made me cry.

I haven't commented over at GW Hoops either because all the various accusations this past week are just so bizarre and lacking in context that I just keep waiting for the story to make some sense. Instead, it gets crazier by the day.
I feel that someone watched the latest John Oliver.
I don't have HBO (although the Boy tells me that I'm paying for his HBO Go subscription...huh.), so not me. 😉
Look it up on YouTube sometime.
I spent two hours last night, specifically between 8:30-10:30PM replacing the rusted out screws holding the heat shield on to the body of the PR's Focus. They'd all come off on Saturday when I hit a decent-sized puddle. The nuts were flimsy and rusted, and then rusted through the heat shield. So I had to jack up the car (jack stands and chocks, people, use them! Seriously, my jack stands were the best $20 I ever spend), crawl under, and take off 8 rusted nuts (two of them just crumbled), then replace them with washers and nuts. The project totaled about 30 minutes of runs to the store, 30 minutes of jacking/unjacking/rejacking, and an hour of actual work. Total cost - $10.30. Result - No more rattle and the PR is gonna let me live.
(Not my pic, but this what I was dealing with)
That bolt is a good representation of how my front rotors looked when I went to replace them a couple weeks ago (I should have taken pictures.) they were in some bad shape and caused the steering wheel to shake violently on braking. The job sent somewhat frighteningly easy, but nothing has fallen off so far!
Just to let all you young'uns here know that this is possible, Mrs. R & I are celebrating our 25th Anniversary today! It hasn't always been easy, but it has been worth it. Hoping for 25 more.
Congratulations!
It hasn't always been easy
Moreso for Mrs. R, obviously. 😉 Congrats!
Congratulations!
Congratulations. That's awesome.
Congrats!
wait, are you married to Bill Clinton? ARE you Bill Clinton?
anyway, congrats!
That's great to hear. Congrats to you and Mrs. R!
I may be one of the young ones, but we just celebrated 10 years being hitched and 16(!) years together. Holy balls.
We celebrate our relationship length in presidential terms, so we'll be starting our fifth term on Inauguration Day.
Then the AMR-EAR union will be starting it's fifth term in two weeks!
We're well into our sixth term as a couple though.
Nice work, Rows. Next 25 should be a breeze.
Seems like some Astros fans are less than happy with Carlos Gomez this season.
Not that teams can buy out contracts anyway. On the plus side, it's $9 million for the whole season and the season is well over half way. He only needs $4 million or so.
that was some quality snark in the piece, however.
The power is off at work.
But do you at least have water? We were without water for about 24 hours and even then it took another day to get the air conditioning running. I wish we simply lost power instead.
The Twins are hiring Thibs!
Are you ready?
Since this is becoming a trend, someone needs to MS Paint Korn on some MN based ferry.
