I would like to find some comfort in the K "trend" you cite. But you have to be pretty optimistic to interpret his OBP improvement from "train-wreck" to merely "terrible" as encouraging.
on the season for Buxton:
ahead in count: 322/432/525 (75 PA)
even in count: 233/254/367 (64 PA)
behind in count: 064/064/115 (79 PA)
His backwards K rate is 6.6 pct, compared to 4.4 pct last year. His swinging K rate is 30.7 pct, compared to 27.9 pct last year.
those "improvements" in OBP from April/May to June to July/August are based on a progression from 2 walks in 53 PA to 4 walks in 93 to 7 walks in 72.
I meant "positive" as trending in the correct direction, not in that I find it encouraging yet.
The tiles outside his former bourbon street club will see a lot of traffic this weekend. I've always enjoyed running into his half fast walking club on Mardi Gras day.
The wife and I saw him in Iowa City when we were young and poor, we got some free tickets at the TV station that I snagged. It was very good, he had a great band behind him.
According to Elias Sports, Eddie Rosario’s two-run, pinch-hit home run in the seventh inning Friday marked the first pinch-hit home run that turned a deficit into a lead for the Twins since Matt LeCroy’s ninth-inning pinch-hit grand slam against Toronto on May 19, 2004.
I think this is cool: the Twins are bringing back "pepper".
if only it would start showing some effects on Buxton's plate performance.
Buxton in April: 49% K rate
May/June: 36%
July/August: 29%
I see a positive trend here.
April/May: 163/189/306
June: 209/239/349
July/Aug: 194/282/274

Didn't realize that Mauer and Nolasco were drafted in the same year.
Apparently, it's not OK to kill bears to protect your home and children, but killing humans is OK.
Bears are cool. From a distance.
