  1. Linds and I turned this on for some reason* just as this was coming on. Good stuff. She's generally not my cup of tea, but she puts on a pretty cool spectacle (a word choice that would seem to imply that I don't care for the performance and dismiss it out of hand - it's not that, it's just that I don't know any other way to properly describe it).

    * I know the reason, we're suckers for music awards shows. It doesn't make any sense, since we don't like any of the music, but it's a decent thing to throw on when you're both sitting on your laptops and there's no Twins game to throw on.

    1. I've not sought out her albums prior to this one, but I've enjoyed LEMONADEa lot. I appreciate the album's story arc; each song is both distinct and deeply felt. As much as it's a personal album, it also feels very connected to what's happening in the larger culture with regard to race in our country.

      All that said, the spectacle is definitely part of the appeal too. She's not just phoning it in--this is a performer giving it her all.
