The end is near. Let us treasure baseball - even bad baseball - while there is still baseball to treasure. Winter will be here soon enough.
Shields vs. Santiago doesn't sound particularly promising, but nothing that doesn't involve Santana does anymore.
Go Twins!
I just dropped by to say
BUXTON!!!!!!
That's all.
PLOUFFE!!!!!
And we have an EIGHT-RUN INNING!
11-2 in the 3rd? Still don't trust it...
Nice.
As I probably won't have time to do a Minor Details post in the morning, here's an update:
The GCL Red Sox beat the GCL Twins 4-3. The Twins season is over and the Red Sox go on to the playoffs.
Johnson City beat Elizabethton 7-4. The two teams play again tomorrow at 5:00 with Tyler Wells going for the E-Twins. Elizabethton needs to win tomorrow and Monday to stay alive in the playoffs.
Fort Myers won the completion of the suspended game to stay alive, but they trail the scheduled game 11-6 in the seventh. If that score holds, the Miracle will be out of the playoffs.
Chattanooga is leading Jackson 2-1 in the eighth. They need to win every remaining game and have Montgomery lose every remaining game to tie for first. Montgomery is leading Tennessee 2-0 in the sixth.
So, if the current scores hold, Elizabethton and Cedar Rapids will be the only Twins teams in the playoffs. As noted, the Appalachian League playoffs started tonight. The Midwest League playoffs being Wednesday.
Looks like the 8-run inning sapped the minors of all the good karma ?
