Game 157: Twins at Royals

I wrote my first 2016 game log at the Amsterdam Airport, now my last at the Phoenix Aiport. Lest you think I'm a world traveler, these are the only two times out of Minnesota in the past year.

I don't think back in Amsterdam I would've guessed that this post would be seeing the Twins sitting in 100 losses  I wasn't super bullish on the club, but man has this year been tough

Jose Berrios on the mound against a Royals club that also has had a disappointing season

    1. All I'm going by is the written play-by-play, but I agree. His pitch count wasn't high, he wasn't getting hit hard, and he had a 3-2 lead. It looks like just another case of Molitor refusing to trust a young player.

      1. On the one hand, I don't want the manager playing to get the pitcher the 'W' like Gardy so often did, but on the other hand, if Berrios' problem is "confidence" (spoiler alert, I don't think that's it), how is this going to help?

"We trust a journeyman middle reliever more than we trust you in this entirely meaningless game."

He only gets, what, one more start? This is not the time to get Buddy Boshers more face time.

    1. I think it was the right call, but walking the leadoff batter was just horrible. Especially when he's a speedster and your catcher would have trouble throwing out Sid Bream.
