I'm going to make tatertot poutine tonight because I can.
You, sir, are a good man.
A little disconcerting: my weight was up 7 lbs from pre-surgery, and 10 lbs last night, although it's back to 8 lbs over now. Got a lot of liquids to get rid of, I guess.
Last night NBBW and I went to an event at the Bushnell Theatre - Shatner's World.
Part of the proceeds of the event (Nite of Lite Laughter in H'istan, or suchat) go to cancer research. Before they opened up with Shatner, one of the local car dealer's had donated a car (wrapped in pink paint film, parked on the stage), and they had been selling raffle tickets to win the car, to which all of the proceeds went to the local breast cancer research outfit. They introduced a woman (in the crowd) who was last year's car winner - and a cancer survivor - she got a nice round of applause.
Then the big moment came to draw the winning name from the large plastic cupcake that held all of the lottery tickets. Some local celebs from the H'istan LITE radio station shook up the plastic cupcake, then another one reached in to draw out the winning ticket.
She read the name, stood there awestruck for a second, then said to the crowd sheepishly - "You all saw that I pulled out a name at random, right?' Then she told us that the winner of this year's car was the same lady that won it last year.
I can't imagine what the odd's are of this happening (assuming the Russkies had nothing to do with it)?
At any rate, we moved on the 80-90 minutes of Shatner reminiscing of his life, Jewish mother jokes, ups/downs, acting/film career (Shakespearean Canadia fest, Broadway, TV westerns, many films, Star Trek+movies, TJ Hooker, Boston Legal), American Saddle horse breeding, etc. Some HasBeen at the end.
He went to a celebrity roast (on himself), rode in through the audience on horseback, and then the first line to come out was from Sulu (George Takei) who screamed: F*** you and the horse you rode in on!!!!!.
Greatest. Living. Thespian.
coinkadinkly, my buddy the Music Man and his Lovely Wife were at a George Takei show yesterday at Davisville University's Mondavi Center.
