For anyone listening via AtBat, the Cleveland feed has 80% fewer corporate sponsorships and the quality of the broadcast (descriptions, narrative) seems much higher than what I heard on the Chicago feed last night.
I really enjoy Tom Hamilton on the Cleveland broadcasts. A great voice and great enthusiasm for the game.
I think I'll be sticking with him for the remainder of the series. I felt like I could actually see some of the action he was describing. Radio broadcasts need storytellers.
I gotta say, I'm more pumped for the Wolves game tonight since I can watch during the free league pass trial, so the WS game is getting relegated to a small screen soon.
Yeah, I'll be heavy on the Wolves tonight.
It's definitely something of a "the future is pretty great" moment when I can get two things I want to watch at the same time.
I'm still waiting for tomorrow's newspaper to find out what happened in the game yesterday.
The late edition didn't have the scores? Lazy editors. Why, back in my day they had the boxscores by noon.
I think the rain last night knocked out the telegraph. The last town to get the word sent the news on the afternoon mail train.
Holy KAT!
Three pointers! Defense! What the hell is going on here?
Bauer's at 51 pitches through two innings. Cleveland booth's saying he's having difficulty throwing his yakker for strikes.
Now 71 pitches through three innings.
Granted, I don't see or hear many commercials with my media preferences, but I've never heard or seen a Mahindra ad before the one just aired. But I'm familiar with the company due to its line of light trucks (not available in the US).
Did they just play the NFL transitional theme music? If so, why not play the Innsbruck Olympics trumpetry as well?
Fox Sports theme music?
I have the mp3s somewhere of the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball and the Fox Baseball themes from the mid-Aughts. Put both on mix CDs.
I prefer the one that preceded Jon Miller and Joe Morgan.
Man, Kyle Schwarber. First hit & RBI of his season come in the World Series.
That's pretty awesome right there
I believe he's the first player ever to get his first hit of the season in the World Series. (At least that's what the Chicago booth said last night.) Not sure about the RBI.
I kind of want him to go nuts this series and end up the WS MVP.
That would be amazing.
Wasn't there a Royals player that made his MLB debut in the World Series? Raul Mondesi. He didn't get on base in his one plate appearance though.
Manship ahoy in the Cleveland bullpen.
With the exception of Baez (and he's improved) the Cubs are great at taking close pitches for balls
Rizzo doing the Oliva thing.
Looks like Francona won't have to worry about whether to bring in Miller today.
Charge that run to Heyward, eh? If he gets the ball back in promptly Arrieta might've escaped with the shutout intact.
I appreciate Fox not resetting the postseason stats for each series.
Cleveland booth wondering how Heyward got his contract with "the numbers" he's put up. Stats cited: HR, RBI, BA, SB. Nod to his defense & all-around play.
It doesn't help with how bad his 2016 was.
There's really no way to overstate how bad Heyward was this season. But it's even worse when the analyst understands how good he has been prior to this season.
I see the Wolves game is close late in the fourth quarter. 538's preseason predictions pick the Wolves to finish 46-36 with a 72% chance of making the playoffs.
Wolves start Thibs era with hauntingly familiar result.
Also, come on, four hours? This is stupid.
The Cleveland booth has been frosty about the number of mound conferences the Cubs' battery mates have had.
All tied up heading to Wrigley.
AP headline refers to Cubs awakening. When it's just 1 game, I think you have to give more credit to pitching of Kluber, Miller and Allen than to a "slumping" Cubs offense. Miller and Allen aren't very valuable if starters can't hand them a lead, or at least a tie game.
And really, the Cubs winning game two is not a surprise. Trevor Bauer isn't terrible, but Corey Kluber he's not.
