Claeys announced that he’s donating $50,000 to sexual assault victims.
“You don’t think it bothers me and my family to get messages saying that I support rape?” Claeys said, beginning to choke up. “I would never do that. I’ve got four beautiful nieces and my sister and mom. It was never about that. Fortunately, I’m in a situation where I can reach out and help the people that have been affected by sexual assault. I feel good about doing that.”
He knew better. He knew better than to support the boycott, and he did it anyway.
Glad he "feels good" about his donation. Because that's the true reason why we donate. Personal warm fuzzies.
Absolution for sale!
Imagine how people who perceived the entire Goofer football team dismissing their teammates' role in sexual assault felt...oh, wait, Claeys can't.
Winter arrived in the Crescent City today. Cold (ish) and rainy< and totally the wrong day to smoke meats on the grill. Doh. Salmon is done, chicken thighs are struggling along.
I can't rave enough about the thermoworks products I recently purchased. I really don't know how I cooked previous to owing such awesome temperature gauges.
too spendy for my wife. so, instead, I'm getting a ThermoPro. Looks like a knock-off of the ThermaPen but at a tenth the price.
I think that's the one I got. I'm guessing it Is not as good as the real thing, but works well enough for me.
I've been really happy with my $29 ThermoPop from ThermoWorks.
Me too.
We had a winner here Friday; I don't know how many stories I heard about how many hours people spent in their car trying to get somewhere (usually home) -- 5, 8, even 11 hours. I tell people here that it's tougher driving in StL in the winter than in MN. With a typical winter, MN will get snow, then get more snow, and then more snow, and a person is driving on packed snow for pretty much the entire winter. Here crap comes down as rain turning to sleet, followed by snow and a day of thawing that refreezes only to have some more snow on that. With a freezing rain on top to boot. Plus there are Illinois drivers here.
I would rather have 30" of snow than any sort of ice/freezing rain.
Finally.

Joe, this is what PayPal sent me:
"Dear [ZG],
On Nov 16, 2016, you sent a payment to halfbakeddonations@google.com for $[xx.xx] USD.
The funds have been returned to your account.
This payment was returned for the following reason(s):
halfbakeddonations@google.com did not sign up for a PayPal account or did not complete the registration process."
Guess this was indeed a half baked donation. Let me know what I need to do.
My account shows a "general payment" to Rifding Hokme.
Shouldn't it be gmail.com, not google.com?
That might explain it.
yup. sorry, i was vague in my telling of the address to prevent the spamz.
Is the foundation still accepting funds?
we're always open.
shouldn't someone fix that?
