Pitchfork just named Solange's A Seat at the Table, my favorite album of the year, as the best album of the year. So I'd play her, but I just did that like two weeks ago. Here's Angel Olsen singing the lovely, haunting "Intern." It's more than twice the length of the album version, which is cool.

I mentioned it in other locales, but while at the gym downstairs (thought I'd try it out for awhile), I listened to Solange's new album, then the first John Prine album. Even I thought that was strange turn.
This was also a very good album. "Shut Up Kiss Me" is about as perfect of a pop song as you can make (not sure if it's playing every 15 minutes on the Current or not).
Yeah, they listed this one at #9. It was my second or third favorite this year, though I can't say I've heard all of their top ten (and have heard almost none of the ones they list from 25-50).
I put the album on last Friday as background music and while it didn't grab me immediately, it did grow on me as it went on.
Agreed on "Shut Up Kiss Me." (Lately I think the Current has been playing her song "Give It Up.")
I liked this one pretty well upon first listen, but similarly, I've found myself liking it more on each subsequent listen.
I've been bragging ever since I found out that Solange threw shoes that I decorated for the Muses parade last year. I'm still searching for her ring.
