As the year goes on, I keep finding myself coming back to Psychopomp. It's an album that is over way too fast, but it's impactful over that short running time. I'm glad I got to see them this summer. They were killer live. I have another song below the cut because the video is awesome.
The official video for "Jane Cum" was inspire by The Craft and is the best. This is my favorite song on the record, and I cried when they played it in July. I'm just a tish excited for the new record they should be putting out next year.
I went through Psychopomp a few times, but honestly, it hasn't grabbed my interest yet. However, it's a good candidate for albums from this year that I need to revisit.
My hotel in Tokyo served a Japanese-style breakfast every morning. I didn't know what a lot of the foods were, but when I went to do some research online, I realized searching for "Japanese Breakfast" might not quite give me the info I was looking for.
what, no congee????
Yes, though it was plain rice porridge (okayu) and you added toppings such as scallions, pickled veggies, and bonito flakes. There was also salad, miso soup, fish, egg, and various little accompaniments.
My hotel in Kyoto served mochi at breakfast (heat in toaster oven until it puffs up and serve with soy sauce, sugar, and soy powder) for good luck in the new year.
On the flight home, I had a fantastic bowl of congee with peppers for breakfast. I came to really love the savory breakfasts--my morning bowl of cereal is pretty sad in comparison.
I love a full Japanese breakfast spread. Salmon for breakfast? Sure!
