So apparently I'm the first one to lay down a Barenaked Ladies song. Some find them gimmicky--and they are at times--but I find overall they're brilliant writers and musicians. One problem is they're famous for some of their weaker songs, including the tiresome "If I Had $1,000,000" and the nonsensical and overplayed "One Week."
My favorite songs are "Brian Wilson," "The Old Apartment," and "Life, In A Nutshell." Though today you get my fourth favorite, "Some Fantastic," because they decided to sing that one in their bathroom.
So is this your guest dj week, or are you just staging a coup? 😉
A starless coup, at that.
No desire to lead these troops!
I guess I don't know how to add stars

(got it)
I don't know "Life, In a Nutshell" but I'm a big fan of the others you list as liking. I'm with you on BNL overall too. Good call.
I got into BNL big in junior high/high school, actually; yeah, when "One Week" came out, but as I usually do I went through their entire catalog and found a lot to love. I think the somewhat oddly titled Barenaked Ladies Are Me album from the mid-00s has some of the sharpest writing of their careers. They haven't been the same since Steven Page left, though.
a lot of love for "Bank Job." I really need to spend more time with that album.
