Not that I had any rooting interest in the WBC, but it's kind of annoying that the States won the tournament when I didn't have the means to see it.

That was inconsiderate of them. Overall, this was a "fun" tournament, and I mean that as high praise. Hopefully they can continue with this energy the next time around. Maybe more players will convince their peers it's a good time and recruit some more guys.
I like the games to be competitive, so I'm okay with the US stars sitting out.
Eh, if every country could play their best, I'm not sure how big of an edge the US has. This year was a good showcase of how baseball isn't just an American game anymore.
For example, there's a whole bunch of Japanese cats that didn't play this year.
The US didn't send all its good players, and this year was a good showcase -- just what I'm saying.
I think the U.S. winning had a lot to do with them making sure those who played really wanted to be a part of the team instead of cajoling players that might be better but wouldn't be fully committed to the success of the team. For instance, not everybody as good as Daniel Murphy is going to be happy with a bench role.
Har - I read that P.R. ran out of blond hair coloring across the territory due to the team's hairdos.
So... is there a reason that my comments are awaiting moderation now? First comment I've posted every day this week (maybe starting Tuesday?) has needed to be approved. Is this happening to others? What's going on?
One of mine was for a couple of seconds yesterday. By the time I refreshed again, it was good.
No, it's happening to others. I've approved several this morning. A few more incidences and I was going to send up the tech signal. Now's as good a time as any I guess.
There don't appear to be any in the hopper waiting to be approved atm. I'd just blame the gremlins.
See HJ above.

Weird. Maybe an api key regeneration would help?
I reset the information. I don't know where I got the previous API key; it may have been from the other basement.
Hopefully thats the culprit. I know they've been a lot more restrictive with those keys lately.
It appears to be working again.
Woo! Thanks.
Turning it off and then on again works for so, so many things. Except when it doesn't because the "off" part was too short, so the system hadn't cooled enough that device enumeration changes and your boot device is now at the end and the code you're using was written by people who have never used a remotely interesting system and couldn't conceive of having 12 hard drives. That was fun to debug.
How about having to fix a year Y1.9K problem years before a Y2K became an issue?
Is anyone else thrown off by the lineup font? I was wondering you Shuch, Hepler and Parh were.
* who, not "you".
I'm still wondering who Shuck is...
I'm wondering who Tepesck is.
Tepesck is Tepesch.
oh, fine, kill the snark
There have been lots of comments on facebook about that font, but for some reason the Twins haven't changed it.
It's a pretty awful font. At the same time, listening to FB comments is a bit like listening to the boy who cried wolf, so I'll say the bigger problem is that they can't see for themselves that it's a terrible font.
I wasn't expecting to have anything to contribute to the WBC conversation, but this is too good not to share.
The Puerto Rican baseball team’s success at the World Baseball Classic has gone to its fans’ heads, as residents of the island have copied the players’ trend of dyeing their hair blond — to the point where Puerto Rico has run out of hair dye.
Oops I didn't read far enuf...
Ha, I'm just glad someone else enjoyed that story too!
In case you missed it The Strib is having a March Madness for MN Beers. It's down to the final 8 and AMR, Schells made it through. Although now it's up against Surly.
Hey, with a brewing tradition like that, is it really an upset?
Talk to Vegas, not me
Hey! Copper Trail was on there. That's pretty cool. They've worked their butts off to make a pretty decent product so early in their brewery's lifespan.
And they had folks stuffing the ballot box! It'd be better if those folks weren't so lazy as to not fill out any of the other brackets, but it's the thought that counts, and all.
Yup. Loving me some Copper Trail. I voted, but did vote in all categories. BTW- a couple Copper Trail guys play cribbage on Monday Nights. Good people, making great beer!
Yeah, Linds and I went there on a date night a month or two back, and we were pretty surprised by the beers we had. A few of my extended family are involved with OMNI, and I'd say Copper Trail already beats anything that they're making.
What's a date night?
Philosofette and I managed to jointly leave the house without children yesterday for the purpose of closing out a bank account we don't use and buying diapers. Does that count?
you are going to love empty nest someday -- trust me
Yes and no.
I watched Batman Begins with the 3 kids last night while the wife was out. (The 16-year old was gone the past 3 days for some school thing.) I just looked at them and realized I don't want them to grow up!

My FKB will be on this very topic.
I heard Surly's program isn't what it was up through last year. Also, Schell's Noble Star series is really darn good.
I like this thing the new Twins regime is trying where they score more runs than the other team. I think that would work well in the regular season. They should keep going with it.
From Mike Berardino:
Checked and confirmed: Ryan Pressly's slider was 92 mph today. Fastball at 97.
And he gave up two hits in his one inning outing, fwiw
Pedro Florimon sighting!
Heyman is reporting that Johan is still looking to make a comeback, targeting the second half of this season to be healthy.
this just in, but McCormick & Schmick's is overpriced.

We get another chance in 2038 for that.
Turn it off and then on again, he said. That should fix it, he said.
That's what happens when you hate on the American Recordings series.

Anyway voting starts up again tonight.
